This song is based on Philippians 4:12-13 and it's surrounding context. Often times I feel that I get too caught up in being thankful for blessings such as a strong family, a home, intellectual ability, etc. We're always told, "Just be thankful that God gave you a home, a family, and a good mind." All of these things are of course good and should be appreciated; but what happens when our strong minds fail us? when we lose our homes? when our familial relationships are strained indefinitely? For most of my life, I have tried to base my thankfulness on the temporal blessings that God has given me and then worked towards being thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When instead, I should base my thankfulness on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all else will certainly follow.
