Life in the Universe #1: Just on Earth, or Everywhere?

This is the first episode of a series on life in the universe. Looking for life in the universe isn't like looking for your car keys. It's hard to know where to even start. The best place to start is probably by NOT trying to find alien civilizations, but rather ANY kind of life we can. The problem is, civilizations live and die in the blink of an eye compared to the lifecycles stars. They could come and go and we'd never know it.

The Hubble Deep Field: The Most Important Image Ever Taken (by tdarnell) 480p

I took it upon myself to create this channel and re-upload this wonderful video, simply because it deserves to be available in better quality than 240p. When Tony Darnell originally uploaded it, youtube did not yet have the ability to host higher quality videos, and all videos from that time are 240p today. He used to offer the video as a higher quality download from his site (a quicktime video file) which is how I got the source file for this upload. He no longer seems to have that link, unfortunately, which is what prompted me to create this re-upload. Mr. Darnell's original video is here: www.youtube.com A full-resolution version of the Pinwheel Galaxy image that appears at 3:27 in the video is here, be warned, it is about 16000 x 12000 and some older computers might lock up trying to view such a large image: upload.wikimedia.org All credit belongs to Tony Darnell. I make no money from this and wouldn't want to anyway.

The Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D

gplus.to twitter.com facebook.com I've recently discovered an animation that was rendered using the measured redshift of all 10000 galaxies in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image. I've written a short script that leads you through a quick history of both deep field images and this video ends with a fly-through of the Ultra Deep Field. Every galaxy in the image is in its proper distance as viewed from the telescope line of sight. As if this image wasn't amazing enough. Reasons why it's hard to accept Religion
