This near mint custom color pre-CBS "L" series "Spaghetti Logo" Stratocaster weighs just 7.10 lbs. Solid alder body, one-piece medium profile maple neck with a fat nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fretboard with clay dot position markers. Three single-coil pickups with balanced outputs of 6.27k, 5.68k, and 5.65k. Fender "Synchronized Tremolo" combined bridge/tailpiece. There are a few miniscule surface marks on the body edges and a couple on the back but otherwise this forty-six year old custom-color Stratocaster is in near mint (9.25) condition, and is certainly one of the finest examples that we have ever seen. Original Fender cream hardshell case. A fabulous example.

Still some things I need to fix on it, but it's definitely playable as it is now. Although the action is very high, and there's also some intonation problems. For those that are interested about the specs; Fender Japan body from the 90's Warmoth (scalloped) neck w/ XJ frets and Sperzel locking tuners (locking tuners is a must!), and a graphite nut. I'm not sure graphite is the right way to go with nylon though, so I'll probably try something else. Fender tremolo bridge with piezo pick-ups on the bridge saddles. The piezos are GraphTech's Ghost system, which also has MIDI out available. The pick guard is very custom - i carved it out myself. I'm going to build in a compressor (BOSS CS3) under the pickguard, and also a simple eq which will be controlled by pressing the volume knob. All powered by a 9V battery. For now the strings are medium tension, but I think that causes some problems, so I'll try extra high tension too see if it plays better. That's about it i guess! www.frettedamericana.com This almost like new Candy Apple Red Stratocaster weighs 7.80 lbs. and has a nut width of 1 5/8 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Solid alder body, one-piece maple neck, and veneer rosewood fretboard with 21 frets and pearloid dot position markers. Four-bolt neck plate with serial number between the top two screws. Three single-coil light grey bottom pickups with staggered polepieces and nicely matched outputs of 5.55k, 5.54k, and 5.63k. Three-layer plastic pickguard with mother-of-pearl on underside and eleven screws. Fender "Synchronized Tremolo" combined bridge/tailpiece. The neck is stamped "22 JUN 69 B". There are just four tiny surface chips (three of them slightly larger than a match-head), one on the lower treble edge by the waist, one on the lower treble edge near the strap pin, and two very tiny ones on the lower treble edge near the strap pin. There is some very slight fret-wear to the first three frets only (hardly noticeable on the third) and two small indentations in the fretboard between the first and second frets. With all that miniscule triviality said, this guitar is so mint - it is unbelievable. The color is rich and vibrant and shows no sign of fade whatsoever. By far the finest Candy Apple Red Stratocaster of any year that we have ever seen - A 9.50 rating does not do this guitar justice! Complete with the original tremolo arm, bridge cover, instruction manual with matching serial number, case key etc. This Candy <b>...</b>

A somewhat boring test here comparing the sound of my 4 Fender Standard Made in Mexico (MIM) Stratocasters. Nothing flashy. This is what some people wanted ie. to hear the "pure" sound of the pickups. I have gone straight into my computer recording software with no amp simulation or effects apart from mild reverb. All guitars are set up in a similar fashion with tone and volume up to maximum. Both ceramic pickup equipped guitars have the pickup heights at similar levels. 1. Fender Standard Stratocaster (MIM) 2011 Lake Placid Blue, Maple Fingerboard, ceramic pickups 2. Fender Standard Stratocaster (MIM) 2011 Arctic White, Rosewood Fingerboard, ceramic pickups 3. Fender Standard Stratocaster (MIM) 2010 Midnight Wine, Maple Fingerboard, Lace Sensor Hot Gold with Hot Bridge pickups 4. Fender Standard Stratocaster (MIM) 2010 Brown Sunburst, Maple Fingerboard, Duncan Designed Alnico SC 101 pickups (from a Squier Deluxe Startocaster) Make of this test what you will. It is boring but I learnt something from it. IMO all these pickups sound great! They can all be inspiring in the right circumstances. I don't think they even sound that different.
