Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. The Ordos Executrix require a Strategist who can accomplish the Directive, while following the Imperative. The last Strategist was incapable of performing to the dictates of his contract, and has been "terminated" or rather "utilized" to help inspire his successor. The new Strategist's contract has now commenced. The Directive: Capture the territories on Arrakis. The Imperative: The Executrix Spice Must Flow!

OhMyGorsh New Videos (Sorta, no)

Hey everybody, this is Smithdanger aka that guy who uploaded all those Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle For Dune videos. Well, I decided that since I'm out of Dune videos I thought I'd let everybody know about a new video series I started on my alternate account, TheAtomicWebsite. It's a review of Attack of the Giant Leeches, an old low-budget 1950's B Movie about, guess what, Giant Leeches. It's been split into two parts and can be seen here: Part 1: www.youtube.com Part 2: www.youtube.com

Emperor: Harkonnen - Part 1 - The Vultures Gather

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. The last Harkonnen Commander of the Arrakis forces has proven himself unworthy of his most honorable Baron's patronage. Yanich Cobal, the twisted mentat of Baron Rakan Harkonnen has been searching amongst his majesty's military for a more capable replacement. Regardless of more pressing matters, the new Commander must be presented to the Baron before his duties can begin. Yanich reassures the Commander that he will not be hurt, as long as he does not show weakness.

The three Houses strong enough to compete for the throne have formally filed for a War of Assassins (normally a controlled and regulated war). The Atreides hope for the chance to finally bring balance to the disporportionate Imperium. The Ordos seek to ensure their profits and wealth for all time through a puppet ghola Emperor. And the Harkonnen seek the power and supremacy they have always thought they've deserved.

Emperor: Atreides - Part 1 - Learn To Swim

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. The new Atreides Commander had recently completed his military training on Caladan. He had excelled in strategy, tactics, and field management, which made him an excellent candidate for his new position. However, one does not learn to win a battle by books and charts alone. As Kolinar Koltrass expresses, he must learn to swim by leaping directly into the ocean.

Dune 2000: Atreides - Part 1 - For the Duke!

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Dune 2000. The Atreides Mentat, Noree Moneo begins the long campaign ahead addressing the men of the Duke. Many of these fresh-faced, yet adeptly trained young men have come to Arrakis in hopes of becoming rich and taking home many exotic trinkets (if not a handful of spice). Noree reminds them that Arrakis is not a treasure trove to be dipped into, but a deathtrap, and easily the most dangerous planet within the Imperium. He reminds them not to fight for themselves, but to fight for the Duke!

Emperor: Harkonnen - Part 2 - Lessons Learned

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. Yanich Cobal has been making calculations of the Arrakis situation, and feels that it would be prudent to invest time and effort towards one of two possible alliances. The Sardaukar or the Fremen. The Sardaukar, the Emperor's personal troops, have been without guidance since his demise. The Fremen, the natives of Arrakis, are often more of a nuisance than an aide. There is a slight inclination towards the Sardaukar, as the Harkonnen have viewed the Fremen as desert rats since they've acknowledged their existence.

Emperor: Atreides - Part 2 - Understanding Arrakis

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. The Commander has survived his initiation, but his trial by fire has yet to begin. Since he hasn't failed, and subsequently not been returned to Caladan, Kolinar warns him of the local Fremen. The Atreides had allied with them in years past, but the bond has been broken. The Fremen, already distrustful to the point of hostility, feel betrayed by the Atreides but at the same time, hope and expect that they will attempt redemption. Meanwhile, Corlin is troubled over the shifting sands. He reminds himself, in regard to the Atreides, that the only sand that isn't buried is the sand that continues to shift.

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. The new Commander of the Harkonnen forces on Arrakis has been presented by the Mentat Yanich Cobal to Gunseng and Na-Baron Copec. Having felt out of the loop on all fronts, Copec judges the Commander harshly, whilst Gunseng reminds his brother that the Commander has already been approved by their father.

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. Smoke billows endlessly into the blanket of pollution over the skies of Barony. Baron Rakan is dead, and with him, the vicious regime of House Harkonnen falls. The Directive was accomplished, and the Imperative was followed to the letter, but something even greater threatens House Ordos now. The Heighliner has stranded them on the obsidian planet of Geidi Prime without warning or reason. The Mentat Roma Atani does not know why the Spacing Guild has abandoned House Ordos, but she has deduced a solution to their predicament.

The Executrix have spent many solaris to purchase an Ordos-loyal ghola of the late Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, and they will ensure their money has not gone to waste. They hope that by putting the Tlielaxu creation upon the Golden Lion Throne, the war will not only end prematurely, but House Ordos will have Imperial favor for generations to come. Unfortunately, the Sardaukar will not be so accomodating, and House Ordos will have to find other strategies to compete against the more aggressive Houses.

The War on Arrakis is about to begin, and only a certain few know of Elara's reasoning behind the Emperor's death. Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Dune 2000. The Duke knows that on a water-planet, you use sea power. On a mountainous planet, you use air power. And on a desert planet, you use Desert Power. The Fremen have lived on Arrakis for countless generations and know the desert like a Caladanian knows how to swim. Without the Fremen on their side, the Atreides can look forward to a war of attrition. A war the Harkonnen are bred to win. A Fremen alliance would strike deeply into the hearts of the enemy's operations, and would no doubt bring the Atreides to the fore of the fight. Luckily, as it were, the Harkonnen have blockaded a Fremen Seitch. Such a situation is nearly tailor-made to begin just such an alliance.

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Dune 2000. The Harkonnen war effort is advancing too slowly. And while Harkonnen are bred for war, they are not so eloquent in domestic matters. After being caught off-guard by the Emperor's decree, their harvesting efforts suffered to the point that the need for a new refining base in the Imperial Basin was required. The Harkonnen Mentat Hayt De Vries expects nothing of the new Commander. Until he's proven his worth in blood, he'll save the niceties such as gratitude and hope for later. However, he does give him good advice. Don't go near the Baron when you don't have a heart plug...or for that matter, when you do.

His brother Copec has been feeling overshadowed by the brilliant Gunseng. Because Copec is the Na-Baron (the heir to the Harkonnen throne), he is unable to be present on Arrakis due to danger to the royal line. And with his father's illness getting inevitably worse, he has been even more shielded than usual for the fact that a double assassination and a strategic flaw on Arrakis could destroy House Harkonnen irreparably.

Dune 2000: Introduction Part 1

This is the first part of the Introduction Westwood Studio's Dune 2000. Many consider Dune 2000, or rather, Dune 2, to be the first RTS game. The game takes place in Frank Herbert's Dune Universe, on the planet Arrakis. Arrakis is the only planet in the universe where the Spice can be found. The Spice is integral to the everyday workings of the Imperium, and millions are addicted to the strange substance. It offers heightened mental powers and senses, longevity, and most importantly of all: instantaneous space travel. He who controls the spice controls the universe, and the Emperor has just begun a war between the three most powerful Houses to see who will control it.

After an assassination attempt, the Caid reconciles that one of the Houses may be worthy of their patronage after all. Meanwhile on Arrakis, a Fremen party has been saved from the Harkonnen by Atreides Thopters. Corlin, a Fremen Naib who speaks for many if not all of the sietches is outraged. The bodies of his dead have been stolen by Atreides soldiers. Luckily, Kolinar calculated ways to impress the Fremen, and had the bodies preserved to maintain their water.

Dune 2000: Atreides - Part 5 - The Price of Freedom

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Dune 2000. Despite the rescue of the Fremen, on part of the Atreides, they are as yet cold to the Duke and do not wish to be bargained with like currency. Moneo's best efforts have at least afforded him a chance to show that the Atreides are truly sincere in their efforts. The Fremen of Seitch Tabr are being held within a Harkonnen barracks. The Fremen are well accustomed to tragedy, and believe them to already be dead. A miracle is a rare thing in Fremen culture. Perhaps making one would open their ears to the Duke's proposal.

The corrupt House Corrino fell among their filthy allies into shame and exile. The Emperor of the Imperium was crushed under the weight of his own Palace. Orinthopter's filled the skies while Fremen war-cries rang out among the shattered bases. Before disembarking, Lady Elara warns the commander of what they have seen in his future. For some reason, they believe that he is the key to some unforeseeable goal. They are to put Deviator Gas in the Maintenance Station ventilation system. This will bring all other House Frigates under Ordos control. If it is performed correctly, then the Guild will be too worried about destroying the "ruffians" to even consider what has taken place. House Ordos will seem innocent compared to the other two, and will hopefully receive aide from the Guild. If not, then at least the other Houses will destroy themselves by the time they reach Arrakis. And if House Ordos is caught in the act, then the Guild will bring swift judgment down on their heads.

Kari finds the Mentat's lack of foresight insulting, but offers the Commander a chance to save the potential alliance. The Ordos have desecrated the Funeral Plain, the Fremen's sacred ground. What is worse, they have also built a Starport, so more infidels may be smuggled in. The Fremen have put up with Harkonnen before, but the growing corruption of their desert by the hands of the Ordos is more upsetting still.

Emperor: Harkonnen - Part 6 - The Choice is Yours

Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. In this installment, the war has heated up and more nations and factions are being pulled into it. Yanich Cobal has noticed that two particular groups require the Commander's attention: The Ix, and the Tlielaxu. They both hate each other (a common problem throughout the Known Universe) and will get angry if the Commander allies with their counterpart. The Ix sport powerful machines which almost break the contraints of the Butlerian Jihad's technophobia. The Tlielaxu sidestep around those laws by dealing in biological constructs which transcend the Butlerian Jihad altogether.

The forests are burning, and the oceans are saturated with blood and oil. But Baron Gunseng receives disappointing news. Not only has the Duke died before the Baron's instruments could accomplish the same, but the Heighliner has abandoned them on the planet. Their forces on Arrakis are at the mercy of the Fremen and Ordos. Needless to say, Baron Gunseng does not take the news well. Yanich Cobal saw a strange plot unfolding within the Tlielaxu, but no Mentat could foresee the Guild's involvement in the matter. The Baron sees it necessary to give Yanich "incentive" to find a solution.

The new Commander is briefed by the strange Mentat, Edric O. He informs the Commander of the probability that he is not what he appears. Passion does not matter to Ordos however, and they are willing to accept such odds. The Ordos are primarily on Arrakis to mine the spice. Military is not their forte, and it is wise for them to avoid such conflicts. If it is possible to avoid such needless losses as military spending, then the Ordos will do as such. However, odds have been calculated that the chances of conflict are inevitable.

They now drift above Caladan, the pristine throneworld of Duke Achillus. Anguishing in anticipaiton, Baron Copec addresses his dogs of war aboard the Guild Heighliners, ordering them to wipe the grand and exalted House Atreides from existence. Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. Baron Rakan's death has been coming too slowly for Copec. Many cannot decide what the problem is. Either the Baron has simply been slowly succumbing to the crippling disease, or Copec has not been using enough poison. He has decided that the time for his ascension has come, as his brother's battle plan of "Slow and Steady" is as long and torturous as his father's refusal to die. Copec's next step towards his ascension to the Golden Lion Throne will divide the House of Harkonnen between himself (vanguard of Geidi Prime) and his younger brother Gunseng (assault forces on Arrakis). Though the House is split, it will not fall. It will simply rip away it's weakest link. But who this weakest link is, lies completely up to the Commander.

The Emperor-Ghola they bought came in a package of several Tlielaxu "sample" units. The Executrix (being the Executrix) attempted to replicate these "one-time only" creatures and utter chaos has ensued. The "accident" on Draconis IV seems less and less like an accident as more reports of "worm-hunting" parties are spotted. The Executrix do not want to harm the possibilities of a Tlielaxu partnership though, and Atani must sit idly by while plots-within-plots occur around them by the hour. In the meanwhile, the Strategist is to either make an alliance with the Fremen, or take action against their incursions on the Ordos Directives. When a Guild Heighliner carrying reinforcements from Caladan is overrun by hostile forces, namely the Harkonnen, the Spacing Guild offers a unique position to Kolinar Koltrass. Causing havoc within a Guild Heighliner is considered a violation of the Great Convention, and since the Guild acts as Judge for this War of Assassins, they give House Atreides a window of opportunity to rescue their troops.
