How to make Sichuan Cold Noodles 四川凉面

www.chinesehealthycooking.com How to make Sichuan Cold Noodles. Sichuan Cold Noodles is a very popular Sichuan appetizer. You can probably find it in any Sichuan restaurant. Noodles should be cooked al dente. To make more spicy, you may add more chili oil. I normally make it lighter without ground garlic and ginger but you can add them to your taste.

Sichuan Earthquake 四川大地震

tripfabrik.de A short documentary about the Sichuan Earthquake of 2008. More Information and photographs on this subject on http Sichuan Earthquake 四川大地震This is a documentary film about the Beichuan Memorial Site in China, based on the magnitude 8.0 Sichuan earthquake on 12.5.2008. When I visited Beichuan in April 2012, I spontaneously decided to make a short documentary report about this emotional place. Walking through the ruins of the old town reminded me of how weak and helpless humans are when it comes to a natural disaster. The old town of Beichuan is a terrifying and mind-expanding instance of the humans equation to the strength of nature. Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com Subscribe here www.youtube.com

The film deals with Ai Weiwei's attempt to testify at the trial of a rights activist in 2009. "Disturbing the Peace," a film by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, was shown on Saturday at the Downtown Community Television Center in New York City. It was part of a film series called "Contemporary China-ism Showtime." The series opened with two award-nominated films about the aftermath of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake that killed about 70 thousand people. Ai Weiwei and his team were not able to join the panel. Earlier this year, the Chinese regime detained him for 81 days and has since put him under house arrest. The documentary follows Ai Weiwei's unsuccessful attempt to testify in the trial of Tan Zuoren. Tan was an activist who tried to investigate why schools collapsed, killing thousands of children, during the Sichuan earthquake. In 2009, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison. The film opens as Ai Weiwei talks with police who are breaking into his hotel room, at 3 am in the morning. [Ai Weiwei, Artist]: "You brought all these cops to beat me? He hit me." Birthday Celebrations for Giant Pandas in Sichuan Province

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com A panda base in Southwest China's Sichuan province hosted a combined birthday for their much loved residents recently -- complete with birthday cards and birthday cake. Giant pandas at the Bifengxia Panda Base celebrated their first collective birthday in Southwest China's Sichuan Province. The panda base, run by Ya'an City's China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, hosted the event late last week. Hundreds of volunteers from neighboring cities and abroad visited Ya'an to celebrate the occasion. Trees at the panda base were decorated with heart shaped birthday cards. Ice cakes filled with bamboo, apples, carrots and bananas were made for each panda. US-born giant pandas Hua Mei and Mei Sheng headed the celebrations. The two were relocated to the base after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake damaged a panda breeding center in nearby Wenchuan County. Celebrations also included Fu Long, an Austrian-born giant panda who has been at the base since late 2009. The base is also home to Tai Shan, who was born at a zoo in Washington, DC Two other US-born pandas, Su Lin and Zhen Zhen, are from San Diego.

Urgent: Tibetan town Ngaba under Military Lockdown, Aba Sichuan

On the roof of the world, Chinese paramilitaries are trying to snuff out Tibetan resistance to Beijing's rule with spiked batons, semi-automatic weapons and fire extinguishers. Every 20 metres along the main road of Aba, the remote town on the Tibetan plateau in that is at the heart of the current wave of protests, police officers and communist officials wearing red armbands look out for potential protesters. Dozens more paramilitaries sit in ranks outside shops and restaurants in an intimidating show of force. At the nearby Kirti monastery, Chinese officers in fire trucks keep a close eye on pilgrims prostrating themselves, in case their devotion turns to immolation. Outsiders are not supposed to see this. The Chinese authorities have gone to great lengths to block access to Aba, in north-western Sichuan, which is home to more than half the 23 monks, nuns and lay Buddhists who have set fire to themselves in acts of defiance aimed at the Chinese Communist party in the past two years. The authorities have blocked internet and mobile phone signals. Checkpoints have been set up on surrounding roads to keep outside observers, particularly foreign journalists, away. But after a 10-hour drive through mountain valleys and snow-covered plains, the Guardian was able to get into Aba and witness how the authorities are trying to quell dissent with security, propaganda and "re-education" campaigns. These tactics have had little success. Despite flooding Aba with security personnel ...

Snow Covers Sichuan State Highway 318 in Summer

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com And finally... a most unusual sight—a heavy snowfall—in the middle of summer. And this is what motorists are experiencing on a Sichuan state highway as vehicles grind to a halt. While people in other regions of China, are enduring the hot summer, a bizarre scene of drifting snow covered the Zheduo Mountain section of the Sichuan State Highway 318 on Wednesday. The snowfall measured more than 12 inches deep. The temperature was less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Heavy snow and fog almost paralyzed traffic on the state highway—as vehicles moved bumper to bumper on the snow-covered road. While the snowfall was creating a traffic jam, some people enjoyed the unusual sight, and got out of their cars to take pictures. [Tourist]: "I came from Nanjing City of Jiangsu Province. I've come to Sichuan for a tour. I never saw snow in July. It is indeed rare. Even in winter, I rarely saw snow in Nanjing." Meteorologists offer two reasons for the sudden snowfall in summer. The first is the altitude of Zheduo Mountain, which is more than 13000 feet high. The second reason is the continuous rain with low temperatures in the region.

Jan 30 2012 CNN goes undercover in Tibetan region of Sichuan province Tibet on Military Lockdown.

Sichuan province, China (CNN) -- It's after 10 pm when we see a light in the distance. We've traveled for more than three hours up a windy, icy road in western China. Our hope is to get to the Tibetan autonomous zone, in the mountainous region of Sichuan province, an area reportedly locked in an ever-growing spiral of violence. We're so close, only an hour or so away. And then the light. Within minutes, we grind to a halt. A policeman is flashing a flashlight in my face. Our Chinese driver is already outside the car. We won't be going any farther tonight. Roadblocks like this are strewn across the back roads of this province. For weeks, ethnic Tibetans and Chinese security forces have been locked in conflict. Buddhist nuns and monks have been carrying out ritual self-immolation by setting themselves alight. It is a gruesome protest against what they claim is the ongoing oppression by Chinese authorities. Tibetan exiles set foot on native soil A chance for Tibetans As our car turns back, our driver calls a Tibetan contact. Something serious is going down. The Tibetan says his village is crawling with police and the military. Later, local news reports tell of two Tibetans killed in protests. But many of the villages that straddle the mountains are inhabited by Han Chinese -- the dominant ethnic group in China. Inside the houses, lights are on, as people eat, watch TV and talk. We ask what they're hearing. They tell us they have little time for the Tibetans. They call them ...

I am not sure exactly what they were or whether they indeed had anything to do with the quake. I am no expert anyways. See if any scientists are willing to give a full explanation. If such phenomenon can be proved for its connection with earthquake occurrences, maybe they could be used as warning signs and would be life saving. If not, just learn these clouds as yet another rare atmospheric phenomenon and no need to panic when seeing them. -------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: After all, this might well be just a rare atmospheric phenomenon occurred by coincidence.
