Rescuers have found another body in the wreckage of the Costa Concordia, bringing to seven the current death toll following a maritime accident off the coast of Italy, the daily Italian newspaper La Stampa said. While the captain is being blamed for the incident, the Costa Concordia liner has now also shifted and there are growing fears that leaking oil could cause an environmental disaster. The explosions were to allow firefighters and scuba divers to get to parts of the ship that they were previously unable to access. Twenty-nine people are still missing: four crew members and 25 passengers. Authorities are looking for 14 Germans, six Italians, four French nationals and two Americans. The others are one each from India, Peru and Hungary.

A cruise ship with over 4 thousand people (crew and passengers) on board has grounded off Italy's north-west coast. At least 11 bodies have been recovered, with more than a 25 others still missing. Scapa Flow, a huge natural harbour in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, is the resting place of the remaining wrecks of the ships the WWI German High Seas Fleet, which was interned in Scapa Flow during the Armistice negotiations. The ships were deliberately scuttled by the German commander. While many of the wrecks were salvaged, a number remain, and these have become major diving attractions and "must-do" dives for any serious wreck diver. LOCATELLI accompanied by 2 deep divers: the underwater filmmaker Jérôme ESPLA (Poisson Lune Prod) and Romain LHOSTE (Aqua Evolution) have dived for the first time ever and identified the wreck of the Maréchal CANROBERT steamer. This success was only possible thanks to the never ending support of Philippe PEYRUSSE of Plongée Passion at La Ciotat and also the help of Thiéry DESMET support and safety diver. On July 7th, 1892, at the end of a crossing between Bône and Marseilles, the ship is sunken, close to the Island of Planier, by the armoured battleship HOCHE (manoeuvring in squadron off Marseilles) in 8 minutes. 5 victims. On a bottom depth of 108m, this steamer wreck of 75m length and 1210 barrels (Compagnie Générale Transatlantique) built in 1872 (Scott & Co - Greenock), launched in 1881 - rests in an astonishing state of conservation. 4 hours and 20 minutes long, this dive with Trimix mix gasses and eCCR rebreather has permitted a bottom time time of 30 minutes at 110 m of depth. The wreck was registered at the DRASSM.

It was scuttled 2009 off coast of Comino (between Malta and Gozo) to serve as dive site and artificial reef for sea life. She lays at sand around 18...20 meters depth in crystal clear waters and is accessible by boat - its only about 10 min drive by speed boat from the most Northern point of Malta.

Scuba Diving the Giannis D ship wreck in the Red Sea, Egypt. Sha'ab Abu Nuhas, North of Hurghada - October 2008. The Giannis D sank with its cargo of timber in 1983 and lies next to a coral reef. The entire wreck can be seen from either end because of good the visibility. It is broken up in the Center, but the bow and stern remain intact. At the stern on the sea floor there is a point where penetration allows you to travel up towards the top of the wreck to a pocket of trapped air. You will need to leave by the same hole which you entered. At the bow you can see where the boat had been renamed, with the old name just visible under a layer of paint. Expect to see glassfish, scorpionfish, angelfish, bumphead wrasse and a napoleon fish.
