Akane Niikura has passed the Sake Service Institute of Japan's test after earning her expertise on the ancient Japanese tradition solely through her sense of smell rather than palate. This weekend, I visited the Nada area of Kobe with my wife and KansaiPJ. Nada is well known in Japan for it's large number of Sake Breweries and it's high quality of sake production. We checked out the Hakutsuru and Kiku-Masamune Sake Breweries. Admission to all the breweries is free and so are the sake samples! It was an informative and somewhat booze saturated afternoon.
