The work's subtitle, 'Choral,' derives from the fact that it is the only symphony Beethoven wrote which included either a chorus or vocal soloists. Assembled in front of the chorus is the orchestra, the largest Beethoven ever required. Standing at the helm of the whole massive operation is conductor Rene Leibowitz, who naturally was responsible for coordinating the entire operation. It is a task not easily undertaken, since Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is the pinnacle of all his works and one of the most stupendous pieces of music ever conceived by man. Also, it is one of the most difficult to conduct. Watching every note played or sung by two hundred and fifty musicians is a formidable challenge. The lightest versions of the Z06 and Coupe were chosen and some exclusive features from the Z06 were added to the coupe like the HUD, diff cooler, and taller spoiler . The coupe includes Z51 and NPP also to make it the highest performance version of the coupe available. Input from the Spring Mountain Corvette driving school prompted accessory racing pedals making heel-toe shifting easier. Competition Gray theme : Competition Gray stripe , Cyber Gray headlamps and Competition wheels provide a track look and the wheels hide the brakes dust. The Corvette C6.R Racing "Jake" logo has a big following. The opera tells how Leonore, disguised as a prison guard named "Fidelio", rescues her husband Florestan from death in a political prison. Rene Leibowitz (1913-1972) was born in Warsaw but moved to Paris in his teens and there began a long, illustrious conducting career. Particularly interested in contemporary music, he studied with Webern and Schoenberg and wrote a detailed analysis of twelve-tone music. An incredible record (RCA) with Pictures on one side and Night on Bare Mountain on the other (sorry the album cover art is blurry).
