The citizens know little of the outside universe, and it is rumored that they are ritualistically drugged to remain domesticated. The planet naturally has no resources, and so, House Ordos has been forced to live a life of smuggling, deception, trading, and economics. Controlled by some of the wealthiest individual in CHOAM, some doubt that it is an actual House, and more of a consortium. Regardless, its shadowy presence in the Landsraad keeps many other Houses in check through espionage and saboteurs. The Ordos maintain their supremacy for flaunting the conventions of the Butlerian Jihad and smuggling illegal technology from House Ix. One such technology has resulted in Edric O, the Ordos Mentat. How much of him is human and how much is a thinking machine, is uncertain, but regardless of either, he has been made very powerful, and no doubt cost several handfuls of Spice. To the Ordos, profit equals life. There is no middle ground. Its armies are filled with mercenaries and forbidden technologies. But its not the technology of House Ix, or the superior Edric O who will win the battles on Arrakis. It is the Commander, who has a contractual obligation to ensure the wealth-ridden planet for his masters.

The area and all of its Spice are required if Ordos is to advance its slow march. It is, however guarded heavily, as all Harkonnen bases are. Edric O does not waste words. He tells the Commander what he is worth to the Ordos effort, and if he wishes to remain effective, he will increase his worth. Edric O has allowed the Commander to use military force to relieve the area of the Harkonnen. The Spice in the Imperial Basin is so important, that should the Commander fail, he will be forced to live and eventually die under a Pain Amplifier. Fear is an efficient tool of management.

With the Atreides and Harkonnen in full retreat back to their holes, and the Sardaukar vowing their vows of fealty to mighty House Ordos, today would forever mark the history of the Imperium. The corrupt House Corrino fell among their simpleton allies into death and despair. What was left of the Emperor of the Imperium had shown that he was killed with a Gom Jabbar. A fitting method, for it is often considered a test of one's humanity, and it was shown that the Emperor was nothing more than an animal. As Deviator Gas lifted to the brown smoke-filled skies, one can only wonder at why the Emperor thought himself safe. It is true to say that many underestimated the insidious House Ordos, but the Imperium would never do so again. The Executrix Council established their own brand of shadowy justice across the Landsraad, and through subtlety and sabotage were capable of holding the entirety of the Imperium in check. Though the Executrix and the Mentat Edric O would hold ultimate sway in the universe for millennia to come, it was the Commander who became the wealthiest individual to ever live. The Ordos are not evil, like the Harkonnen, for the Ordos keep their word, and for delivering the Imperium into their hands, they paid the Commander an empire's ransom worth of spice. His face even adorns much of the currency, showing that despite their cold calculating logic, the Ordos showed respect for at least one man.

Anything that could bring profit was thrown into carry-alls and taken to the nearest starport to be brought to the nearest Ordos-controlled planet for assessment. Meanwhile, the Executrix await the Guild's orders to disembark from the Heighliner over Caladan. The Atreides family have always been popular within the Landsraad. A bit too popular for the tastes of the Ordos. If Duke Achillus becomes Emperor, it is doubtful that he would abstain from invoking sanctions on Ordos business transactions. The Harkonnen are indeed brutal, but the Atreides are more of a threat on all fronts. The Duke must be stopped before more Houses join his cause.

If not, then at least the other Houses will destroy themselves by the time they reach Arrakis. And if House Ordos is caught in the act, then the Guild will bring swift judgment down on their heads.

Edric O reveals that he is one such technology, and such is why he is superior to his counterparts. Smugglers, unfortunately, are not loyal, and live only for themselves. Information is dangerous. And that is the principle on which the Ordos military doctrine is based.

The Executrix (being the Executrix) attempted to replicate these "one-time only" creatures and utter chaos has ensued. If the Strategist does not intervene then the Executrix, and all of House Ordos might fall under unintentional Tlielaxu slavery.

It is the third real-time strategy game set in the Dune universe, following its predecessors, Dune II and Dune 2000. While Dune II was a totally distinct story to that of Dune, and Dune 2000 was a remake of Dune II, Emperor is a direct sequel to the previous games. In particular, it is a sequel to Dune 2000, carrying on from where it left off, with several of the characters and actors returning. Like Dune 2000 and many of the other Westwood games that came before it, Emperor features cut scenes filmed with live actors and produced with professional-class visual effects.

Dune Legacy is a cross platform remake of the excellent Dune II, the game which ploughed the way for and was a forefather to the whole real time strategy genre. While not the first real-time strategy (RTS) game (The Ancient Art of War, Stonkers, and Herzog Zwei all preceded it), Dune II established a format that would be followed for years to come, and was the first to use the mouse to move units, allowing players to fluidly interact with their troops. As such, Dune II was the first modern real-time strategy game. Atani knows there is a plot behind it, but the Executrix force her to not take any action. The "accident" on Draconis IV seems less and less like an accident as more reports of "worm-hunting" parties are spotted. The Executrix do not want to harm the possibilities of a Tlielaxu partnership though, and Atani must sit idly by while plots-within-plots occur around them by the hour. In the meanwhile, the Strategist is to either make an alliance with the Fremen, or take action against their incursions on the Ordos Directives. It seems that the Imperatives of each new assault are being abandoned with the tolerance of these nomad warriors.
