For my latest video I decided to return to good old Finale Notepad for a little bit (which reminds me, starting with the latest version, it's no longer free, so sucks for anyone thinking of getting it for free). I've been listening to the soundtrack to Super Mario Galaxy lately, and playing it on my new Wii I got for Christmas, and decided to pick a song that didn't already have a midi out for it and make it on Finale Notepad. Upon getting about 4/5 of the way through the song, I discovered that there WAS a midi for it on the Video Game Music Archive, and I struggled not to copy from it, as I normally do. I'm proud to say that everything you hear in this song (with the exception of the woodwind-ish sounding part second from the bottom) has been done COMPLETELY BY EAR. I listened to the song, and jotted down all of the instruments I heard (though I ignored the harp), and made the notepad file. What followed was essentially 6 hours (over 4 days) of me listening to the song, and then putting that part into notepad, and listening for background parts like the French Horn. I'm exceptionally pleased with this one. ENJOY IT, OR ELSE!!! BTW, keep an eye out for this on the VG music archive. I uploaded this as a midi, and now I've just got to wait for them to approve it and include it in their next upload. Until then, you can download this midi at: www.vgmusic.com It'll tell you that you cannot view it because remote linking is not allowed, but there's a link to download it on ...
