I've found that less is more and a clear space really yields a clearer mind. The beauty industry is a billion dollar industry that profits off of your need to keep up, lusting after the next best thing. I hope this video disarms some of that anxiety, and gets down to the basics of it all. Staying beautiful on the outside is really just a matter of embracing what is within. Live pure, eat clean, be mindful of the ingredients you put in and on your body. It's okay to never own a designer ANYTHING in your life. Piet Mondrian - ukulele minimalism
Another experiment in minimalism. This time, the improvisation is for two tenor ukuleles. I used my Kanile'a for both parts. The piece is centred around the chord of Bb. The ukulele is tuned down one tone. Piet Mondrian is one of my favourite 20th Century artists. For this video I have used just 6 of his paintings.

"The point is, if you went to Paris and dug up Debussy and said, 'Excusez-moi Monsieur, are you an impressionist?' he'd probably say 'Merde!' and go back to sleep. That is a legitimate concern of musicologists, music historians, and journalists, and it's a convenient way of referring to me, Riley, Glass, La Monte Young [...] it's become the dominant style. But, anybody who's interested in French Impressionism is interested in how different Debussy and Ravel and Satie are—and ditto for what's called minimalism. [...] Basically, those kind of words are taken from painting and sculpture, and applied to musicians who composed at the same period as that painting and sculpture was made [...]." Mode 214/215: The Minimalists | John Adams: Short Ride in a Fast Machine
Orkest de Volharding, Jussi Jaatinan cond. In the spring of 1972, composer Louis Andriessen and saxophonist Willem Breuker brought together musicians from improvised and from traditional music, at a historical and tumultuous concert in the Amsterdam Carré theatre. They became the Orkest de Volharding ("obstinacy", an ensemble of flute, 3 saxophones, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, horn, piano and bass) which has distinguished itself internationally in the field of new music, with over 300 works written for them. Short Ride in a Fast Machine is a joyfully exuberant piece by John Adams. Volharding's artistic director Anthony Fumara adds a little extra with his own arrangement, which fits the ensemble like a glove. In nothing flat it functions as a breathtaking four-minute exclamation mark.

Minimalist green house. The term minimalism is used to describe a trend in design and architecture where in the subject is reduced to its necessary elements. Minimalist design has been highly influenced by Japanese traditional design and architecture. The structure's beauty is also determined by playing with lighting, using the basic geometric shapes as outlines, using only a single shape or a small number of like shapes for components for design unity, using tasteful non-fussy bright color combinations, usually natural textures and colors, and clean and fine finishes. Using sometimes the beauty of natural patterns on stone cladding and real wood encapsulated within ordered simplified structures, and real metal producing a simplified but prestigious architecture and interior design. May use color brightness balance and contrast between surface colors to improve visual aesthetics. Rachel Whiteread - House - theEYE
Rachel Whiteread has created some of the most remarkable and resonant public sculptures of recent years. House (now demolished) cast in concrete the interior of a terraced house in London's East End. Holocaust Memorial is a moving memorial in Vienna to the victims of the holocaust in Austria. Yet she also frequently works on a domestic scale, casting in plaster and resin the spaces inside, around and beneath furniture, floors and staircases. Her art is a uniquely poetic response to the everyday, and to the haunting themes of memory and mortality. In this video profile Rachel Whiteread speaks about the ideas that prompted a number of her best-known sculptures, including Ghost, her first cast of the space inside a complete room, and Monument, which established a shimmering presence in London's Trafalgar Square during the summer of 2001. She also outlines the complexities of creating her often technically challenging works, and reflects on the controversies that they have sometimes set off. theEYE is an excellent introduction to contemporary artists and their works and provides an ideal resource for a wide range of audiences, including galleries, museums and colleges, as well as individual art-lover.
