Midge Ure - Dear God (1988)

In stereo: musicvideo of Dear God by Midge Ure, released in 1988. From the album "Answers to nothing". Dear God, is there somebody out there? Is there someone to hear my prayer? I'm a simple man with simple words to say Is there some point in asking? Asking for more only got us where we are today Lost and alone and afraid Give me, love for the lonely Give me, food for the hungry Give me, peace in a restless world Give me, hope for the children Give me, a worldwide religion Give me, peace in a restless world Dear God, can you hear me crying? A whole world crying Looking for something to say We had it all and we threw it all away Is there somebody watching Somebody watching over the mess that we've made We're lost and alone and afraid Give me, love for the lonely Give me, food for the hungry Give me, peace in a restless world Give me, hope for the children Give me, a worldwide religion Give me, peace in a restless world And we need to know there's something good Though all our years of solitude go on and on and on... Give me, love for the lonely Give me, food for the hungry Give me, peace in a restless world Give me, hope for the children Give me, a worldwide religion Give me, peace in a restless world Dear god, is there somebody out there, Is there someone to hear my prayer

Midge Ure - No Regrets

In stereo: Midge Ure - No Regrets. Released in June 1982 as a first solo single, a cover of the classic Walker Brothers song. Later Midge worked again with Ultravox to release the album "Quartet". I noticed this video was not yet or no longer on YouTube, so I decided to upload my version. This is the original music video, but with a new stereo audio track. The original video had a very poor quality mono audio track...

Ultravox - Vienna Top Of The Pops1981

Good quality rare video recorded this from Top Of The Pops in 1981..Classic. British New Wave rock band. They were one of the primary exponents of the British electronic pop music movement of the early 1980s. The band was particularly associated with the New Romantic and New Wave movements. Until 1979, the frontman of Ultravox was John Foxx who left the band to embark on a solo career. Following Foxx's departure, Midge Ure took over as lead singer, guitarist and frontman, and he helped to steer the band to commercial success. Ure left the band in 1987 after establishing a solo career and the group disbanded for a while. A new line-up, led by sole original bandmember Billy Currie, was formed in 1992, but without success. The band's most well known line-up of Currie, Cross, Cann and Ure reformed in 2008 and have toured together since then. The band was formed in 1973 on the initiative of vocalist and songwriter Dennis Leigh, a then Royal College of Art student, and was originally known as Tiger Lily. An initial but incomplete lineup comprised Leigh plus Chris Cross (bass guitar) and Stevie Shears (guitar), with Warren Cann (drums) and Billy Currie (keyboards/violins) joining later in 1974. The group released one single in 1975, Ain't Misbehavin', which contained an eponymous cover of the Fats Waller song, as A-side. Later, the band went through a series of name changes including The Zips, Fire of London, London Soundtrack, and The Damned. Warren Cann, Chris Cross, Billy ...

If I Was-Midge Ure

James "Midge" Ure, OBE (born 10 October 1953) is a Scottish guitarist, singer, keyboard player, and songwriter. He enjoyed particular success in the 1970s and 1980s in bands including Slik, Thin Lizzy, The Rich Kids, Visage, and most notably as frontman of Ultravox. Ure co-wrote and produced the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and co-organised Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8 with Bob Geldof. He twice received an Ivor Novello Award with Geldof for co-writing "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Ure acts as trustee for the charity, and serves as ambassador for Save The Children. His stage name, Midge, is a phonetic reversal of Jim, the diminutive form of his real name. "If I Was" was written by Ure and Danny Mitchell and produced by Ure. It reached #1 on the UK singles chart for a single week in September 1985. This was Ure's third number one, coming after his success with Slik in 1976 and Band Aid in 1984. The song features Mark King of Level 42 on bass guitar. In the sleeve notes for the 2001 compilation If I Was: The Very Best Of Midge Ure & Ultravox Ure recites "This song is pure Danny Mitchell. I found a demo of it on a cassette Danny had sent me for his band The Messengers. I grabbed it with both hands, messed around with it, sprinkled it with fairy dust and the rest is history." The music video famously featured Ure's face patterns on a Pin Art pinscreen. Lyrics: If I was a better man Would fellow men take me to their hearts If I was a stronger man Carrying the ...
