Few works of art have been subject to as much scrutiny, study, mythologizing and parody. It is owned by the French government and hangs in the Musée du Louvre in Paris. Visiting the Louvre Museum in Paris, France

Visiting the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. Louvre {loov'-ruh} — a French palace and the national art museum of France. Located in Paris, the Louvre is one of the largest palaces in the world and, as a former residence of the kings of France, one of the most illustrious. It exemplifies traditional French architecture since the Renaissance, and it houses a magnificent collection of ancient and Western art. The Palace The first Louvre was a fortress built at the beginning of the 13th century by Philip II Augustus to defend the Seine below Paris against the Normans and English. It consisted of a thick cylindrical donjon (dungeon) surrounded by towered walls. This château, enlarged and embellished by Charles V in the 14th century, was sacrificed in the 16th century at the end of the reign of Francis I in order to make room for a new Renaissance structure of the same size. Only the west wing and part of the south wing of the projected palace, conceived by the architect Pierre Lescot and decorated with sculptures by Jean Goujon, were finished. In 1564 Catherine de Médicis had her architect, Philibert Delorme, build a little château in a neighboring field to the west called the Tuileries. It was then decided to create a grandiose royal residence by joining the Louvre and the Palais des Tuileries by a series of buildings. The most important is the Grande Galerie built along the Seine in the reign of Henry IV. In the 17th century Louis XIII and his minister Richelieu extended ...

Tomb Raider - Angel Of Darkness - Louvre Galleries - Part 1

Go up the stairs until you see a closed door. You cannot open it now as you need to get a strength upgrade. Kill the guard on the right and pick up the Impactor Batteries he drops. If the red light catches you, a second guard will show up, but he does not leave anything. Continue up the stairs, follow the hallway around to the left and open the door. First Gallery with lasers - You enter a galery which is protected by laser beams. If one of them catches you, they do not harm you, but they activate the alarm and both the entrance and exit doors close. They are sealed by metal gates, the laser beams turn off and a guard enters the gallery. In that case, kill the guard and press the button on the right hand side of the entrance (if it is to your back) to open the doors and activate the laser beams again. The guard appears only once. Do that if you are interested in all kills. The deal here is to reach the opposite side, avoiding the laser beams that lock the exit. Getting across - Climb on the first low glass case and turn left. Jump to grab the archaeological relic, pull up and get the Large Health Pack. Turn right and take a running jump over the lasers to land on the next case. Jump\ climb to the one on your right and turn left. To reach the next case, take a running jump when the moving lasers are at the lowest point. Once you make it, walk to the edge of the case and take a standing jump when the upper two laser beams turn off. Now hang from the right hand side of the ...

For more info on Louvre, visit: www.worldsiteguides.com "..The known history of the Louvre started as early as year 1190, when king Filip II built a fortress on the site to protect Paris from Viking raiders. The remains of this fortress can actually still be seen in the Louvre crypt. During the 14th century, Charles V converted the fortress into a royal residence and later in 1546, Francis I had the whole site renovated into the French Renaissance style Louvre one can see today. Francis I is by many seen as the founder of the modern Louvre, as he not only renovated the site, but also acquired the Louvre's center piece; the Mona Lisa." In Flagranti - Louvre For Yo

Album: Sounds Superb Label: Codek Records Europe Release Year: 2009. In Flagranti is the duo of Sasha Crnobrnja and Alex Gloor. They both have been in and around various scenes on opposite sides of the globe between New York and Europe. What they share is the simultaneous discovery of the italian cosmic scene from the late 70s early 80s. Both were hooked after hearing some of the mixed tapes in the early 80s, which had this hypnotic blend of electro-disco-afro-rock-funk-dub. This track is sampled by the original 1978 song "For Your Love" by Chilly. Enjoy.

LOUVRE

Visit the Louvre Museum

How well do you really know the most famous museum in the world? In the heart of the former home of the King's of France, stands the famous glass pyramids of Pei (extremely controversial in 1988). A few feet away, the artist Anselm Kiefer is installed in the northern staircase of la Cour carrée, for contemporary art also has a place inside the museum. A full program of temporary exhibitions, film projections and concerts makes the Louvre a fascinating place to be. Thus, the Louvre is « a secular institution resolutely focused on the future ».
