Nepal - Himalaya - Kathmandu

Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked sovereign state located in South Asia. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China, and to the south, east, and west by the Republic of India. With an area of 147181 square kilometres (56827 sq mi) and a population of approximately 30 million, Nepal is the world's 93rd largest country by land mass and the 41st most populous country. Kathmandu is the nation's capital and the country's largest metropolis. Nepal has a rich geography. The mountainous north has eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest, called Sagarmatha in Nepali. It contains more than 240 peaks over 20000 ft (6096 m) above sea level. The fertile and humid south is heavily urbanized. By some measures, Hinduism is practised by a larger majority of people in Nepal than in any other nation. Buddhism, though a minority faith in the country, is linked historically with Nepal. Many Nepali do not distinguish between Hinduism and Buddhism and follow both religious traditions. There are 3 different buddhist traditions: Himalayan Buddhism, Buddhism of Kathmandu Valley (mostly Mahayana and Vajrayana), and also the Theravada Buddhism. A monarchy throughout most of its history, Nepal was ruled by the Shah dynasty of kings from 1768, when Prithvi Narayan Shah unified its many small kingdoms. However, a decade-long Civil War by the Communist Party of ...

While awaiting and praying for his fathers recovery, Siddharth is forced to live with his uncle. Continuing the inexplicable downward spiral of his life, young Siddharth is subjected to abuse from his aunt. The only bright spot in his life is the warmth he receives from his cousin, Druki. One evening, as she is preparing for bed, Druki asks her mother about the death of Siddharth mother. Searching for words to give peace to her daughter, the woman tells Druki that God took Siddharths mother away because he loved her so much. Himalaya, Opera .

Himalaya (Nepali: हिमालय), 1999, also known as Himalaya - l'enfance d'un chef and as Caravan, is a Nepalese movie directed by Eric Valli and was funded through France-based corporations. It was the first Nepalese film to be nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the 72nd Academy Awards. Himalaya is a story set against the backdrop of the Nepalese Himalayas. At an altitude of five thousand meters in the remote mountain province of Dolpa, Himalaya is the story of a tribe that take a caravan of yaks across the mountains, carrying salt from the high plateau down to the plains. This they do, in order to supplement their meagre stock of grain with which to survive the winter. The film unfolds as a story of rivalry based on misunderstandings and distrust, between an aging chief and the young daring herdsman, who is both friend and rival to the existing family that controls the caravan passage. The film is a narrative on the both traditions and the impermanent nature of human struggle to retain and express power in the face of the Gods. "The Gods triumph" is the call that echoes at the end of the film and expresses the balancing of karmic destinies. The extreme environment of the Himalayas is magnificently contrasted to the delicacy of humanity and the beauty of Tibetan culture. Himalaya was shot in widescreen over nine months on location in a region that can only be reached on foot, with all characters played by real chiefs, lamas and local villagers. Vangelis - Himalaya

This is a track from Vangelis's 1979 album, "China," a concept album about said nation. (Interestingly, Vangelis had never visited China at the time that he wrote the album. Nevertheless, he employs various traditional Chinese instruments and compositional styles alongside his own trademark sound for the piees on the album, including this one.) The video consists of various images that I found on both Google and Wikimedia Commons of the titular mountain range, including its tallest and most famous peak, Everest Mons (which, by the way, is actually located in Nepal and not in China.)

Himalayas - World's largest mountain range

The Himalaya Range or Himalayas for short, is a mountain range in Asia, separating the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau. By extension, it is also the name of a massive mountain system that includes the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and other, lesser, ranges that extend out from the Pamir Knot. Together, the Himalayan mountain system is the planet's highest and home to the world's highest peaks, the Eight-thousanders, which include Mount Everest and K2. To comprehend the enormous scale of this mountain range, consider that Aconcagua, in the Andes, at 6962 metres (22841 ft) is the highest peak outside Asia, whereas the Himalayan system includes over 100 mountains exceeding 7200 m (23622 ft).

Great Himalayan National Park Part 1

www.greathimalayannationalpark.com http The Himalayas have been a source of awe and inspiration for millennia to countless individuals. They are the largest, tallest and geologically youngest mountains on our planet. In India, they are the Dehvbumi--the home of the gods. The Himalaya are also one of the most fragile mountain regions of the world and hold an enormous repository of biological diversity which is increasingly under pressure from human activities. The unique ecological aspects of the Western Himalaya led to the creation of the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) in the Kullu district of India's mountain state of Himachal Pradesh. These features include biodiversity, sparse human populations, inaccessibility, little tourism, and a local economy based on traditional livelihoods. Best of Babaji Hairakhan - Himalaya - India

Haidakhan (or Hairakhan) Babaji, simply called "Babaji" or Bhole Baba (an epithet for Shiva) by his students and devotees, was a teacher who appeared in northern India and taught publicly from 1970 to 1984. The spiritual teacher Leonard Orr wrote about his encounters with Haidakhan Babaji, and together with Sondra Ray, promoted him as being Mahavatar Babaji One of his more radical teachings was that some type of great disaster was coming, though he did not say what it was or when it would come. He did say that it would be a worldwide catastrophe. In some countries he predicted a survival rate of 5% or lower, saying that the highest survival rate in any country would be 25%, while some countries would be completely destroyed. The only way to survive this was to pray to one's chosen deity or chant Om Namah Shivaya. Have faith! Reciting the Name of the Lord is not the first, but the last stage of spiritual practice! When lions enter the forest, the other animals run away. Likewise, all evil thoughts will vanish with the recitation of the Lord's name. Reciting the Name of the Lord will bring you the company of a good people and you will be near saints. Blessed are the few who will discard the kingdom of the world for the Lord's name. Such a devotee always resides in My heart. In the womb, you take a vow not to get attached; but as soon as you come out, you get entangled. Abandon attachment! Your mind plays tricks on you! That is why you are after pleasures! All worldly things ...

Great Himalayan National Park Part 3

www.greathimalayannationalpark.com http Biogeography The GHNP is at the junction of world's two major faunal regions: the oriental to the south and palaearctic to the north. The temperate forest flora-fauna of GHNP represents the western most extension of the Sino-Japanese Region. The high altitude ecosystem of the Northwest Himalaya has common plant elements with the adjacent Western and Central Asiatic region. As a result of its 4100m elevation range the Park has a diversity of zones with their representative flora and fauna, such as alpine, glacial, temperate, and sub tropical forests. These biogeographic elements are result of geological evolution of Himalaya which continues today from the action of plate tectonics and continental drift. Over 100 million years ago, the Indian sub-continent broke off from the large, southern landmass, Gondwanaland and moved north. It eventually slammed into the northern land mass, Laurasia, and formed the gigantic folded mountains of the Himalaya. Due to this union of Gondwanaland and Asiatic landmasses, exchange of flora and fauna was possible and this ultimately led to the unique biogeographical features in the region.
