Pairings: What to wear with Harem / MC Hammer Pants
Hi Everyone! In this episode, we're going to play with Harem Pants! These pants have a lot of personality and they're so comfortable. I have a few fashion tips - make sure that the drop design is not too saggy, look for details, and opt for a cropped version for a casual look or a long length version for a more traditional look. For a trendy chic look, pair it with an aviator jacket and wedges. For an edgy chic look, pair it with a form fitting corset-like top or jacket and heels. And for a casual look, pair it with a simple white top and flats. Harem pants are so fun, and more importantly, so comfortable! Sewing Tutorial: How to make Harem Pants
www.evangestyle.com www.evangesews.com Whether you call them harem pants, salwar pants, hammer pants, or even parachute pants, this style of pant is among the easiest to draft a pattern for. If you're an absolute beginner, in lieu of a separate waistband I'd recommend just folding the top over, sewing it shut, then either inserting an elastic or a drawstring. If you're unsure of this technique, try watching my video tutorial on bloomers, it's the same basic idea: www.youtube.com If you want to make a salwar kameez, use the same technique, but use a drawstring instead of elastic. Indian clothing usually uses drawstring waistbands. If you'd like something that looks a bit more professional, but is still easy enough for a beginner, use an elastic waistband like I use in the video. I didnt go into much detail about it, but it's almost the exact same waistband as in my video on leggings: www.youtube.com If you're wanting to make a polished looking pair of peg-legs, and are using a non-stretchy fabric, try the waistband mentioned in my circle skirt video: www.youtube.com and in my box pleated skirt video: www.youtube.com and in my dirndl style skirt video: www.youtube.com If you're using this tutorial to make a bellydance costume, or just want something a bit more low-rise, then use a curved, wide waistband.
