An in-depth look at a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z Lingenfelter from D&M Motorsports. Hosted by Chris Moran. The Camaro IROC Z28 just squeaked into the final group of Ten Best Cars for 1985, narrowly displacing the Lin Mark VII LSC. There those among us who said that ii was too big and too heavy— heavier, for instance, than a Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport, or Chevy's new Astro minivan—to be one of the best, especially when it comes to market as a sporting machine. There were others, however, who said that it may be big and heavy, but it sure works, and we did select it as America's best- handling car last May. So the second group carried the day, and the IROC-Z made the cut. There can be no denying that the IROC Z28 does get the job done. It is very fast, and very good at all the things we expect sports coupes to do. In terms of price-performance ratios, it is probably a better buy than its stablemate the Corvette. The Corvette does most things better and faster than the Camaro, but it also costs more. One area where there can be no equivocation, however, is in looks. The Camaro looks like a hundred- thousand-dollar car, and if we saw Camaros as seldom as we see Ferraris, we'd probably pay that for it. An in-depth video test drive and walk around of a beautiful 2006 Bentley Arnage R with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. Back in the roaring '20s, a Bentley's claim to fame was success in motor racing. But amidst financial struggles the company was bought by Rolls-Royce in 1931 and soon the only way to tell a Bentley from a Rolls was by its radiator grille. The 1980s saw the Bentley division get back to its sporting ways with the introduction of the Turbo R sedan, and the 1990s saw BMW supplying engines to both prestigious English marques. Early in the 21st century, Bentley and Rolls went their separate ways: BMW took possession of the Rolls-Royce name, while Volkswagen kept the Bentley name and the plant in Crewe, England. Today's Arnage is a carryover from the previous era. It's rear-wheel drive and still uses a turbocharged BMW V8. The new generation of Bentley models, the Continental GT and Continental Flying Spur, make use of VW's turbocharged W12 and all-wheel-drive technology. In spite of its advanced age, the Arnage has presence, and not just because it's longer than a Lincoln Navigator and weighs just as much. Understated rather than glamorous, the Arnage is devoid of any tacky styling elements. Close examination reveals lovely details, such as window frames that have no visible joints at their corners, appearing as a single piece rather than an assemblage containing unsightly seams. With leather and wood trim becoming commonplace in less prestigious ...

TEST DRIVE and complete presentation of a stunning 2009 Rolls-Royce Phantom at D&M Motorsports. Presented by Chris Moran from Automotive Media Group. Like the Great Pyramid of Giza, Rolls-Royces change shape slowly and imperceptibly without affecting grandeur or purpose. This evolutionary pace ensures that even older Rolls models will remain relevant and rewarding, creating no sense of shame for owners even when placed next to newer, fresher versions. That said, the single most noticeable change on the 2009 Rolls-Royce Phantom—the new front bumper—does just enough to tidy up the Phantom's face that it might prompt customers to go ahead and toss down $400K for a new one anyway. Indeed, the nicely integrated fascia brings the bumper, fenders, and grille into agreement with each other. Together, they replace the clunky, unresolved front end that, frankly, made the pre-'09 Phantom look like it had already "menaced" a wall or two as part of the assembly process. Rolls-Royce made more changes to the big bad Phantom for '09, including new power rear bucket seats; relocated rear climate, window, and audio controls; a new clock; fabulous new rear vanity mirrors; and, for the first time, the unique headliner that uses tiny lights to mimic twinkling stars—evidently, when you have this kind of money, the stars always come out at night. The iconic Rolls grille has also been tweaked, becoming shallower to mimic the Phantom Coupé and Drophead Coupé, and cast-aluminum 21-inch wheels are ...

A quick look at a 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. The Dodge Viper is one of the first V10-powered cars in the world, made by the Dodge division of Chrysler. Production of the two seat sports car began at New Mack Assembly in 1991 and moved to its current home at Conner Avenue Assembly in October 1995. The car, and numerous variations, has made many appearances in TV shows, video games, movies, and music videos[citation needed]. Although Chrysler considered ending production because of financial problems,[1][2] chief executive Sergio Marchionne announced and showed on September 14, 2010 a redesign of the Viper for 2012.[3] The Viper was conceived as a historical take on the classic American sports car. The iconic AC Cobra was a source of inspiration, and the final version of the Viper bears this out with its powerful engine, minimalist straightforward design, muscular and aggressive styling, and high performances. Some saw claims to kinship with the Cobra as a marketing exercise, ignoring that Carroll Shelby was heavily involved in the initial design of the Viper, and subsequent design of the Viper GTS coupe. Notably, the later (1996 through 2002) Viper GTS coupe took a few design cues from the Pete Brock designed Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe. Though the proportions seem similar at first glance, the designs are quite unique. Carroll Shelby was key in the development of the RT/10 as well as having a hand in the development of the GTS ...

An in-depth review of Mercedes' newest world-class supercar, the 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Hosted by Chris Moran. It's five and a half feet long. It weighs 8.8 pounds. Height of an adult female, weight of a gallon or so of gas—these are the critical dimensions of the carbon-fiber driveshaft running between the engine and the rear-mounted transaxle in the new Mercedes SLS AMG. We note this here because, despite the car's retro-gullwing looks, the SLS is utterly bleeding edge—both in terms of its technical attributes and what it represents for Mercedes' in-house tuner. It is not simply a Mercedes with bigger wheels and a breathed-upon V-8 or V-12. It is, down to its churning carbon-fiber core, AMG's first dedicated automobile and the very antithesis of the overly complex and overweight half-million-dollar Mercedes SLR McLaren. "The SLS is a serious super sports car," says AMG chief of development Tobias Moers before taking a shot at the SLR, a carbon-fiber-bodied car that still managed to weigh in at 3858 pounds. "Our SLS weighs only 3572 pounds," he says, nearly 300 pounds lighter than the McMerc. Keeping the 182.6-inch-long, two-seat SLS's mass in check is its entirely aluminum construction (save for that driveshaft and steel A-pillars), a first for Mercedes-Benz. The aluminum structure weighs just 531 pounds, Mercedes says. The most distinctive aspect of the SLS's appearance is, of course, its roof-hinged gullwing doors, an homage to the iconic 300SL Gullwing. But AMG ...

A first drive for Chris in the Panoz Esperante. Presented by D&M Motorsports, hosted by Chris Moran. Our intentions were good. This would be the first magazine to pit two similarly priced, low-volume, Ford SVT Mustang Cobra-powered sports cars from a pair of young and eager companies in a breathtaking shootout. The fatal flaw was the timing. Qvale Modena is already shipping Mangustas to customers. The company diverted one for this test and certified that it was fairly representative of that which citizens of the land may purchase. On the other hand, Panoz Auto Development Company in Hoschton, Georgia, is still developing its Esperante. It did produce a prototype with Irish-green paint and oatmeal leather for testing, but the car was clearly yanked out of the oven while still a little squishy. Regular production of the aluminum body panels had yet to begin, the interior is still undergoing minor revisions, and raising the unperfected convertible top occupied two engineers with tools for 20 minutes. In short, the Esperante's test numbers have too many asterisks to be used in an honest comparison with the Mangusta. Not to say that the time spent with the Esperante was a complete waste. The Panoz shows promise of maturing into a shapely, competent roadster, and Danny Panoz promises the first buyers will be able to unload their extra $81961 on one by this fall, once he obtains tops and bodies for the 100 or so completed chassis sitting in his factory. An in-depth test drive of a 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. That's right. The 430 Scuderia, a V-8-powered, aluminum "volume-sales" model we all kind of assumed was just another lightened, mid-cycle riff on the F430 turns out to be one serious supercar. It may be Ferrari's best-performing GT car ever, despite its fire-sale $272306 price. It is unquestionably the Ferrari that mere owners -- not factory test drivers or F1 world champions -- will be able to drive the fastest on demanding roads or race circuits without winding up on wreckedexotics.com. Granted, the 503-hp 430 carries 18-percent-more weight per filly than does the 651-hp Enzo and it lacks the Enzo's exotic pushrod-actuated suspension, active aero-gear, and a few other racy touches. And yet with Michael Schumacher at the helm, the 430 Scuderia circulated the fast track at Fiorano in 1:25.0, equaling Dario Benuzzi's best run in the Enzo, circa 2003. And indeed our own test equipment recorded a quicker launch in the 430 (1.2 seconds to 30 mph versus 1.4 in our last Enzo) and a blistering 0-to-60 time of just 3.1 seconds to the Enzo's comparatively pedestrian 3.4. Granted, by the quarter mile the Enzo's power advantage vaults it ahead by 0.2 second and almost 7 mph, but on shorter circuits like the 1.8-mile Pista di Fiorano there's precious little time spent at those speeds. In fact, as development engineer Michele Giaramita explained the many advantages the 430 enjoys at ...

An in-depth walk around of a lightly used Porsche Boxster with Chris Moran. Only 7K Miles! Porsche's lower-priced mid-engine sports car got some major aerodynamic and appearance modifications in 2003. Wind-tunnel testing resulted in a sharper front end. More prominent outer edges on the Boxster's front air intakes boosted airflow. The engines didn't change in size, but they earned a modest power boost — an increase to 225 horsepower for the base Boxster and 258 hp for the Boxster S. A new rear glass window with an electric defroster replaced the previous plastic window, and a lockable glove box and retractable cupholder were added. A new S Anniversary Edition of the Boxster goes on sale as a 2004 model. The trim commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 550 racecar and features silver exterior paint and a more powerful version of the 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine. A newly optional sport exhaust system goes on the Boxster S. The Boxster name blends the term used for horizontally opposed engines — called "boxers" — with the car's roadster body. Rivals include the Audi TT, BMW Z4, Honda S2000 and Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class. Exterior Viewed from the front, the Boxster resembles Porsche's rear-engine 911 series. Farther back, the Boxster has an assertive profile all its own. Front fog lights are standard, and the Boxster S adds rear fog lights. An optional wind deflector mounts behind the seats to reduce turbulence when the top is down. A removable aluminum hardtop is ...

An in-depth walk around presentation of a 2004 BMW 645ci Coupe with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. Ever since the last 635CSi rolled off the production line in 1989, BMW fans have wondered how long it would be before the automaker revived one of its most popular GT coupes. The later 8 Series coupes, sold in the US from 1991 to 1997, were fast and pretty, too. But they also were heavy, with no real rear legroom, and expensive. The new 645Ci melds the flavor of both previous models, adding heavy doses of the company's current technology and design language. Sharing architecture with the new 5 Series sedan, it's taller and has a greater overall length than the old 8 Series, with a wheelbase nearly five inches longer. The 645Ci is powered by a throaty, responsive 4.4-liter, 333-horsepower V-8, with 332 pound-feet of torque available at 3600 rpm. That's more horsepower than the old 8 Series' 5.4-liter V-12 and almost as much torque. In a hurry? How about 0-to-60 in a BMW-estimated 5.4 seconds? This car makes you want to risk getting a ticket every day of the week. There are three six-speed transmission choices: a Steptronic automatic, a sequential-manual gearbox, and a flawless manual. For those who enjoy a stick but don't want to deal with a clutch, the 645's SMG will gladly take care of the work and do an excellent job of it. An in-depth look at a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. For 1955, Chevrolet's full-size model received new styling that earned it the "Hot One" designation by enthusiasts. Unlike Ford and Plymouth, Chevrolet's styling was considered crisp and clean. Bel Airs came with features found on cars in the lower models ranges plus interior carpet, chrome headliner bands on hardtops, chrome spears on front fenders, stainless steel window moldings,[1] and full wheel covers. Models were further distinguished by the Bel Air name script in gold lettering.[9] For 1955 Chevrolets gained a V8 engine option. The new 265 cu in (4340 cc) V8 featured a modern, overhead valve high compression, long stroke design that was so good that it remained in production in various forms, for many decades. The base V8 had a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 162 hp (121 kW), and the "Power Pack" option featured a four-barrel carburetor and other upgrades yielding 180 bhp (130 kW). Later in the year, a "Super Power Pack" option added high-compression and a further 15 bhp (11 kW). "Idiot" lights replaced gauges for the generator and oil pressure.[10] Motor Trend magazine gave the Bel Air top marks for handling.[10] Front legroom was 43.1".[1] The 1956 Bel Air received a face-lift with a more conventional full-width grille, pleasing those customers who didn't favor the Ferrari-inspired '55 front end. An in-depth 2008 BMW 650i Convertible review with Chris Moran from AutoMedia. Presented by D&M Motorsports. www.dmautosales.com For most people, purchasing a large luxury coupe or convertible is entirely an act of passion and indulgence, and right or wrong, outward appearance can make or break the deal. Compared to the sleek offerings from rival manufacturers Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, well...let's just say the 2008 BMW 6 Series has a great personality. If there is such a thing as a sleeper among the entries in the big-ticket touring class, this is it. Only when you've taken the time to become fully acquainted with its pure driving dynamics, innovative use of technology and lower price of entry does the 6 Series' true beauty become apparent. In its fifth year of production, the rear-wheel-drive, four-passenger BMW 650i coupe is based on the same platform used for the 5 Series sedan. But BMW aims the 6 Series higher. It has but one engine available, a 4.8-liter V8. Not a single body panel is shared with the sedan, and the front and rear suspensions are likewise calibrated for the 650's lower ride height and sportier intentions. To keep its weight in check, aluminum is used extensively for the suspension, hood and doors. Thermoplastic front fenders and a composite deck lid do their high-tech best to keep the 6 Series feeling spry, though this is still essentially a 4000-pound car. BMW equips its 6 Series well in terms of equipment, and you'll find but a handful of features ...

A in-depth walk around of a 2008 Jaguar XK Coupe with Chris Moran. Only 13K Miles! A new Jaguar doesn't come along every day, and even when one does, it's usually hard to tell since it looks just like a past Cat. While there are certainly cues here and there to remind of its prestigious genealogy, the 2008 Jaguar XK is clearly a new kitten -- and a sexy one at that. However, there's more to this luxury coupe and convertible than sleek and muscular styling. This is a Jaguar that drives as well as it looks, and although it's not quite a canyon-carving sports car, the XK and the high-performance XKR are sporty enough to please those looking for something more than just a pretty automotive fashion accessory. The XK was fully redesigned last year. One major change over the previous XK8 is the car's all-aluminum body structure and body panels. Sure enough, the XK is a bit lighter than before and significantly less portly than its main competition. Jaguar also claims that the aluminum structure's extra body stiffness has improved handling, ride quality and crashworthiness. While we passed on testing that last assertion, we can say that ride and handling are certainly better than before and certainly competent enough. Just don't expect the XK to keep up with a Porsche 911 in the mountains. Nor can the standard XK coupe and convertible match the straight-line pace of competitors like the BMW 6 Series or Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class -- 300 horsepower just isn't enough these days. A quick look at a 1992 Corvette with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. The 1992 LT1 is probably the best all-around Corvette Chevrolet has ever made. But is it good enough? In this world of 4.9 second 0-to-60 mph Japanese sports cars, Chevy's Corvette is no longer the unchallenged performance leader in sports cars that don't cost more than your house. Mazda's new twin-turbocharged RX-7, Nissan's 300 ZX, Mitsubishi's 3000GT and its brother, the Dodge Stealth RT, are a few of the cars muscling in on Corvette's hallowed ground. I have driven those cars, plus put nearly 1500 miles on this week's test car, a bright blue LT1. This much is clear: While other automakers can duplicate - and in some cases exceed the Corvette's performance for the same or less money - nothing yet has come along that conveys the respect, prestige, admiration and sheer lusty appeal of a Corvette. This is one of the few American cars with a true heritage. Going into its 40th year in 1993, the Corvette is an institution. No other American car has a more loyal following. PERFORMANCE If you think American engineers have lost it, look at what Chevy's mechanics did to the Corvette's small-block 350 V-8. For 1992 they increased horsepower, performance and fuel mileage - an incredible feat. Chevy redesigned the engine's cylinder heads, cooling and exhaust systems and fuel injection. The Corvette comes with a 300-horsepower 350-cubic-inch V-8, up from the 250 horses available in last year's Corvette ...

An in-depth presentation of a gorgeous 1999 Ferrari F355 Spider with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. It's tough enough to build a perfect sports car. The essentials include a frame that's both lightweight and superrigid, a racetrack-ready suspension, brakes more tenacious than those on a mile of Santa Fe freight train, and an engine that combines high-drama power output, environment-friendly exhaust, and the basic reliability of a blacksmith's anvil. Oh yeah, the perfect sports car also needs drop-dead looks, air conditioning that actually works, and a high-rpm wail sensuous enough to have you at 8000 rpm while backing out of the garage. No mean feat, this perfect sports car, but Ferrari has created just such a machine: the F355 Berlinetta. Our July '95 issue's test raved about this Italian mid-engined coupe's blistering performance, fawned over its creature comforts, and openly gushed about its Pininfarina-sculpted beauty. Whether trolling for action along Sunset Boulevard or blowing the snot out of some race car on the track, the F355 Berlinetta never makes excuses and never lets you down. So, herein lies the embodiment of the best Ferraris of all time: The F355 can not only trace its primordial DNA to the blood-engorged Testa Rossa race champion and masterpiece 275 GTB Lusso, but it operates with such a delicate touch that Madame Curie could set fast time down Coldwater Canyon on a moonless night-without the benefit of radium. As tough as it is to create the ...

A 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with only 2000 miles--Offered by D&M Motorsports. Presented by Chris Moran with Automotive Media Group. For 2008, Dodge brings back the Challenger. With a 425-horsepower V8 and handsome retro styling, this reborn muscle car gives the Dodge boys something to be proud of. Introduction Did you miss out on the original 1970-'74 Dodge Challenger? Or maybe you had one back in the day, sold it and now regret the sale? Well, thanks to the Dodge boys who share a similar nostalgic sentiment, you get a second chance with the 2008 Challenger. Those familiar with the old Challenger know that it was a belated response to Ford's wildly successful Mustang, which was launched some six years earlier. Size-wise, however, the brawny Challenger was closer in size and weight to a 2-ton muscle car than a lithe pony car. Big V8s were the engines of choice, including the legendary 426 Hemi V8. Unfortunately, this model's life was shortened by the era's gas crisis and more stringent emissions regulations. Despite arriving into an eerily similar climate, there's no need to worry about the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 merely being a poser's visual link to the past -- it sports standard "Hemi" V8 power, rear-wheel drive and the right sound burbling from its rectangular exhausts. Initially, it will only be available in ultra-high-performance SRT8 form, meaning its 6.1-liter (around 370 cubic inches for you old-school types) V8 makes 425 horsepower. A less powerful (and less ...

A stunning Ferrari 612 Scaglietti presented by D&M Motorsports in Glen Ellyn, IL. Hosted by Chris Moran from AutoMedia. Twelve cylinders. Twelve. To the less-than-knowledgeable automotive enthusiast, that's how many V's this car has and it's twelve V's are derived from the monumental Enzo Ferrari. Yes, it's a V12 engine. In this humble man's opinion, anything with a 12-cylinder motor qualifies as exotic. Combined with the ultra-exclusivity of the 612 Scaglietti, this car is truly is Ferrari's everyday supercar. Let's go all the way back to the 12-cylinder Ferrari Testarossa. Launched in 1985, the Testarossa was a wildly designed, anything-but-conventional modern-day supercar. While Ferrari had been making great cars in the mid 80's, they never quite had the wow factor of the poster-worthy Lamborghini Countach. In the rear of the Testarossa sat the 4.9 liter Flat-12 engine. What's a flat-12? Sometimes called a "boxer", the pistons basically fire at each other on a 180 degree flat angle, hence the name "flat". The benefit is a lower center of gravity than a conventional v-style layout, aiding the handling in the process. The Testarossa ushered in a successful flagship model for Ferrari. With nearly 10000 produced over it's 10 year run, it captured much of the marketplace in which it helped define. In 1992, Ferrari revised the Testarossa to become the 512 TR. Largely unchanged, there were minor refinements to the driveline and appearance, and a boost in power from 381 to 421 ...

A unique 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (997) from D&M Motorsports. Presented by Chris Moran. If you were to analyze the world's finest modern-day sports cars, you would find that they all have a front or midengine design that balances weight distribution and centralizes mass between the wheels. Yet the 2008 Porsche 911, with its engine hanging out behind the rear axle, thrusts a middle finger into the air toward conventional automotive engineering wisdom. That it simultaneously achieves truly legendary performance is all the more surprising. Someone once wrote that the Porsche 911 is a "terrible design, brilliantly executed." And that pretty much explains why no other automaker is currently offering a rear-engine car. But more than four decades of research and development have morphed the 911 from a mostly entertaining but bedeviling-at-the-limit beast to a very capable and forgiving sports car. It simultaneously provides supercar performance and handling, along with daily driver comfort and livability. And with the ever-expanding 911 family, picking the perfect Porsche for your needs has never been easier. Provided, of course, you have the means. For 2008, a Turbo Cabriolet joins the coupe, while the ultimate 911 -- the even more potent, lighter, rear-drive GT2 -- comes back into the fold. Other changes this year include optional carbon-fiber racing-style seats, a more effective sunshade for Targa versions and increased oil change intervals for most models (12000 miles or ...

An in-depth look at a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M Motorsports. www.dmautosales.com The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a premium SUV that represents a shift in focus for this SUV-oriented luxury brand. While traditional Land Rover models have combined unbeatable off-road performance with the amenities of a luxury sedan, the Range Rover Sport represents Land Rover's first entry into the burgeoning high-performance SUV arena. It is designed to offer sporty road manners and traditional Land Rover luxury without completely sacrificing the go-anywhere abilities of other Land Rover models. Despite its name, the Range Rover Sport is actually a modified and shortened version of the old Land Rover LR3. As such, the Sport is the smallest and most nimble SUV in the company's lineup. Overall, it is an enjoyable and luxurious vehicle to drive as well as look at. Shoppers seriously interested in getting maximum on-road performance out of an SUV would probably be better served by a few of this Land Rover's competitors, however, as they are able to deliver better acceleration and handling. Handling performance is a definite step up from other Land Rover models. The Range Rover Sport is the first Land Rover to offer the company's Dynamic Response suspension system, which is standard on the Supercharged model and optional on the HSE. Land Rover says that this computer-controlled system senses cornering forces and automatically adjusts the ...

A nearly-new 2011 BMW 335i Convertible presented by Chris Moran from D&M Motorsports. The 3 Series coupe and convertible have been slightly restyled for 2011, and have been given an additional model in the form of the more sport-oriented 335is. All 335i models receive a new, more fuel-efficient turbocharged engine. The upgraded stereo is also once again branded as a Harman Kardon. Introduction They say that variety is the spice of life. If that's true, the 2011 BMW 3 Series can make things hotter than a habanero. You can get a sedan, a wagon, a coupe and a convertible; there are two turbocharged six-cylinders, a wickedly torquey diesel engine and a regular six-cylinder that's hardly a slouch. Then there are more add-ons to be had than ornaments for a Christmas tree. Yep, there's really something for everyone, which partly explains why the 3 Series has been so popular for so long. Oh, and the fact that it's one of the finest automobiles on the globe may have something to do with it, too. Now in its sixth year since the last full redesign, the BMW 3 Series soldiers on with key changes for 2011. The coupe and convertible get a mild styling refresh that only the keen eyes of Bimmerphiles will notice. More important, though, is an all-new engine for the 335i models. Its output remains the same, but the switch to a single twin-scroll turbocharger in place of the old engine's dual single-scroll turbochargers combines with direct injection to improve fuel economy. Not only is the ...

An outrageous 1930 Ford Model A Custom Street Rod, offered by D&M Motorsports. Hosted by Chris Moran. The Ford Model A of 1927--1931 (also colloquially called the A-Model Ford or the A, and A-bone among rodders and customizers[1]) was the second huge success for the Ford Motor Company, after its predecessor, the Model T. First produced on October 20, 1927, but not sold until December 2, it replaced the venerable Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A (a previous model had used the name in 1903--1904) was designated as a 1927 model and was available in four standard colors, but not black. By 4 February 1929, one million Model As had been sold, and by 24 July, two million.[2] The range of body styles ran from the Tudor at US$500 (in grey, green, or black)[2] to the Town Car with a dual cowl at US$1200.[3] In March 1930, A sales hit three million, and there were nine body styles available.[2] The Model A was produced through 1931. When production ended in March, 1932, there were 4849340[citation needed] Model As made in all styles. Its successor was the Model B, which featured an updated 4-cylinder engine, followed by the Model 18 which introduced Ford's new Flathead V8 engine. Prices for the Model A ranged from US$385 for a roadster to $1400 for the top-of-the-line Town Car. The engine was a water-cooled L-head 4-cylinder with a displacement of 201 cu in (3.3 l). This engine provided 40 horsepower (30 kW). Typical fuel consumption was between 25 and ...

A wild ride in the Campagna T-Rex 14RR from D&M Motorsports. Hosted by Chris Moran. The oddly named Campagna T-rex is part bike, part car and wholly insane. It uses the engine and gearbox from a Kawasaki motorbike, and the six-speed sequential gearbox channels the 1.4-litre engine's 187bhp through -- get this -- a single rear wheel. Oh, and the whole thing weighs well under half a tonne, or about half the weight of a Lotus Elise. At least that rear wheel is a decent size, though, for while the front wheels are clothed in a pair of relatively diminutive 205/45 ZR16 tyres, the rear gets rather more chunky 285/40 ZR17 rubber. This gives the T-rex at least a fighting chance of getting its power down on a damp road surface. What's it like? Like nothing else you're ever likely to experience. There are none of your conventional niceties such as a windscreen or even doors, but the overall impression is nevertheless that of being in a car. The power delivery isn't exactly car-like, however. The motorbike engine revs hyperactively all the way to 11000rpm, with the bulk of the power not arriving until well north of 7000rpm. If you haven't gathered already, this is a seriously fast machine. And it's not for the faint-hearted, either. Although the manic engine begs you to drive this car hard, doing so requires prudence. Push the T-rex too hard on the exit of a damp bend, and the combination of the short wheelbase and a surfeit of power over traction means you'll have to be quick and ...

A gorgeous 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 tribute car. Ground up restoration...incredible daily driver material! Hosted by Chris Moran. Before any official announcement, reports began running during April 1965 within the automotive press that Chevrolet was preparing a competitor to the Ford Mustang, code-named Panther.[6] On June 21, 1966, around 200 automotive journalists received a telegram from General Motors stating, "...Please save noon of June 28 for important SEPAW meeting. Hope you can be on hand to help scratch a cat. Details will follow...(signed) John L. Cutter -- Chevrolet Public Relations -- SEPAW Secretary." The following day, the same journalists received another General Motors telegram stating, "Society for the Eradication of Panthers from the Automotive World will hold first and last meeting on June 28...(signed) John L. Cutter -- Chevrolet Public Relations SEPAW Secretary." These telegrams puzzled the automotive journalists. On June 28, 1966, General Motors held a live press conference in Detroit's Statler-Hilton Hotel. It would be the first time in history that 14 cities were hooked up in real time for a press conference via telephone lines. Chevrolet General Manager Pete Estes started the news conference stating that all attendees of the conference were charter members of the Society for the Elimination of Panthers from the Automotive World and that this would be the first and last meeting of SEPAW. Estes then announced a new car line, project designation ...
