Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir - Happy Birthday Jesus

"Happy Birthday Jesus", credited to the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, but the real star is the little girl, whose name I do not know. She's got a sweet little voice, though! The song was written by their choir director Carol Cymbala, the wife of the pastor at the church. I'm not sure, but I think the little girl is Carol's daughter.
Jaci Velasquez - Lay It Down

A wonderful song of submission to God. We struggle and try to solve things on our own, and eventually we realize the best thing to do is just lay our troubles at His feet and seek His guidance. Written by: Donald Poythress, Brian White, Chris Eaton
Heather Williams - Hallelujah

A wonderful song written and performed by Heather Williams. Before you watch this video, check out her video that talks about the story behind the song. Here is the link: www.youtube.com I don't really need to say anything more, Heather's recounting of what led her to write this song says it all. James 1:2-4

Joy Williams - Surrender

Joy Williams recorded 'Surrender' in 2002, on the 'By Surprise' CD. I always thought it was an underrated song. Not quite in the style of my other videos, and not exactly my style of music, but something about the song really catches me.

Alan Jackson - Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning

Alan Jackson wrote this song shortly after the World Trade Center tragedy on 9/11/2001. One of the most poignant songs written about that dreadful event. I put this video together many years after the event, but even so the images of that day are still burned into my memory forever, and I'm sure the same is true for almost everybody.

Lincoln Brewster - Power Of Your Name (with Darlene Zschech)

A very creative and imaginative song by Lincoln. Near the beginning he had his grandmother play the piano. Then shortly after that the percussive beat is the sound of the heartbeat of his son Liam taken during a sonogram. Very cool, a multi-generational accompaniment team! Darlene Zschech of Hillsong accompanies him here and does a wonderful job. They blend together nicely. Lincoln wrote the song along with Mia Fieldes of Hillsong fame. Let Your kingdom come! By the power of Your name!

John Denver - Wild Montana Skies (with Emmylou Harris)

Yes, I've been to Montana and sometimes the skies are indeed wild. This is a wonderful collaboration between John Denver and Emmylou Harris. Emmylou seems to be able to harmonize with just about anyone. She is a treasure. And so was John, God rest his soul.
Linda Ronstadt - Long Long Time

One of the classics. I think most of us have experienced the feeling of unrequited love. Linda's expressive voice captures that emotion perfectly. This song was written by Gary White. One thing I've noticed is that very few people have ever attempted to cover it, probably out of intimidation.

Laura Story - Remember

From Laura's amazing album "Blessings" this is a beautiful communion song called "Remember". "Remembering" is one of the reasons that we regularly celebrate communion. As if we need to be reminded to the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us. But it's binding for the church to remember that sacrifice corporately. Laura composed this song.
Kari Jobe/Gateway Worship - You Are Good

What a worshipful song this is about the kindness and goodness and mercy of our God! Kari wrote this song. The first line, "your kindness leads to to repentance" comes right out of Roman 2:4. That whole chapter is very challenging. Give it a read.

Keith & Kristyn Getty - What Grace Is Mine

Everyone knows the song "Danny Boy", which is really a tune called "Londonderry Air". Many songs have been written using this same tune. Here is another one, written by Kristyn Getty, called "What Grace Is Mine". Arrangement by Rob Mathes. It's a song about God's wonderful grace and mercy. And about how we should respond to that wonderful gift. By the way, this song is from the fantastic album "Awaken The Dawn". Every song on the album is as good as this one. I highly recommend it.

Lonestar - Let Them Be Little

Originally recorded by the co-author of the song, Billy Dean (along with Richie McDonald). A sweet song about a subject most of us know all too well, about not pushing our kids to grow up too fast. We should treasure the moments when our kids are little, since we can never get those moments back. And while we are treasuring those moments, we need to give them hope and praise and love. Every day.

Chris August - Starry Night

God is majestic, and this song is about His majesty. I don't know much about Chris August other than that he toured with Ashlee Simpson for a while but then eventually missed recording Christian music, so he shifted his focus. Good for him!

Christy Nockels - Angels Lullaby

A beautiful Christmas lullaby sung by Christy Nockels, co-written along with her husband Nathan. There were certainly plenty of angels around on that glorious day and I'm sure their lullaby was sensational! As is our Lord and Savior!

Across The Border - Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young

A beautiful Bruce Springsteen song, done wonderfully by Linda, Emmylou, and Neil. Neil's harmonica work is killer. The guitar work is very nice, too. I think it's Bernie Leadon, formerly of the Eagles and other groups, but I'm not positive. From the "Western Wall: Tucson Sessions" album (vastly underrated, by the way.) I got a lot of these desert pictures from a Flickr repository but I could never identify the guy's name so I can't credit him. Anyway, I take no credit for the beautiful pictures, and whoever you are out there who created them, thank you.

JJ Heller - The Choice You Made Was Me (a Jennie Lee Riddle song)

This song is from a nice acoustic CD called "Love Came Down", released in 2009 by New Nation Music, which was founded by Jennie Lee Riddle many years ago. Jennie actually wrote this song as a teenager in 1989, over 20 years ago. JJ Heller performs the song exquisitely here.

Keith & Kristyn Getty - By Faith

A song of faith written by Keith & Kristyn Getty originally from Ireland, with a little help from their good buddy Stuart Townend. Take a look at Hebrews 11 (the faith chapter) before you watch this, just to get you in the right spirit (if you aren't already). From the wonderful album "Awaken The Dawn"; one of those few albums where every song is a winner.

Twila Paris/Dennis Jernigan - On My Knees

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's a duet by Twila Paris and Dennis Jernigan, written by Dennis. From the awesome album "Hands Lifted High", which features Dennis singing duets of songs that he has written. His duet partners include Twila Paris, Natalie Grant, Christy Nockels, Jeff Deyo, Rebecca St. James, etc. I highly recommend this album. Thank you, Dennis, you are such a talent. And Twila is at her best here.

Christy Nockels - Marvelous Light

I never particularly cared for this song very much, but Christy brings a nice freshness to it. The versions by Charlie Hall are OK, but they seem sort of mechanical, whereas Christy's version has a real brightness to it (which is a good thing for a song titled "Marvelous Light"). From the wonderful CD "Life Light Up".

Chris Tomlin - Lord I Need You

From the 2010 Passion live album "Here For You" this is Chris Tomlin singing "Lord I Need You", sort of a modern-day version of the hymn "I Need The Every Hour". Written by Christy Nockels, Daniel Carson, Jesse Reeves, Kristian Stanfill, and Matt Maher. Yes,we *do* need Him. Without Him we have no hope, and we have no promise of salvation.

True Worshippers - Captivated

This is such a fantastic song! I happened to stumble across it while searching for the song "Captivate Us" by Christy Nockels (another fantastic song, by the way). This group is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the lead singer is Sidney Mohede, who also wrote the song. I can't stop listening to this song! What an awesome testament of love to our Creator and Savior!

Faith Hill - Fireflies

This is a song about learning how to dream when we are children and then holding on to those dreams (and the ability to dream) as we grow older. Faith Hill is singing here, but the story belongs to singer/songwriter Lori McKenna. Lori understood that when she was a child she was taught to dream; the song implies that it was fairytale characters who taught her, and that's probably partly true, but she also learned it from her parents. When she was young she dreamed of becoming a singer/songwriter, and by golly, she did. Good for her!

Kate Wolf - Close To You

One of my biggest regrets in life is that Kate Wolf lived practically in my back yard when I was younger (she lived in Santa Cruz and I lived in the south Bay Area), but I never got around to seeing her perform live before she passed away in 1986. There had never been anyone like her and there hasn't been anyone like her since. This is one of her most beautiful songs, "Close To You". We miss you Kate.
Sandi Patty - Star Of Bethlehem

Probably one of my favorite Christmas songs. I love the Christmas carols, but you can only hear "Joy To The World" so many times before you get tired of it. But I never get tired ot this one. Written by Rick Vale and Karla Morley. And I love the children singing along. "He is the Savior, He is the Child of Hope"!

If you haven't seen the movie "Letters To God", check it out as soon as you can. A very touching and true story. Lots of good music in the movie, too, including this song. I bought the DVD of the movie and also the soundtrack CD, which is wonderful.

Christy Nockels/Janna Long - May The Words Of My Mouth

This song is from the beautiful compilation CD "Sing Over Me", a collection of lullaby-style worship songs. "May the Words of My Mouth" was written by Tim Hughes ("Here I Am To Worship") and Rob Hill. Based on Psalms 19:14. The song helps us remember to keep our focus on Jesus, our hope and our light and our Way. This is an awesome CD, by the way. While the songs are lullaby style, they are still enjoyable for adults. I'm 57 and a man and I still love it!

Collin Raye - Love Remains

A fantastic song about the power of love sung by Collin Raye, written by Tom Douglas and Jim Daddario. I love these "stages of life" types of songs, and I especially like this one since the notion of love is the common thread from birth to death, and even beyond death. Very, very cool song.

Jesus Culture - Rooftops

From the album "Come Away", this is "Rooftops", sung passionately by Kim Walker of Jesus Culture from Bethel Church in Redding, CA. The song was written by Lindsey Sweat, Ben Williams, and Jonathan Berlin. Very majestic, very worshipful. Sort of an updated "Shout To The Lord" song. The song is about a desire to serve our Lord Jesus Christ: "Here I am, I am Yours!"
Bethany Dillon/Nichole Nordeman - Sing Over Me

This song is based on Zephaniah 3:17 - "The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." It's from a compilation CD called "Sing Over Me (Worship Songs and Lullabies)". The artists are Nichole Nordeman, Janna Long, Bethany Dillon, Erin O'Donnell, and Christy Nockels. Very relaxing music for both babies and adults. This song is typical of the style of the CD. I highly recommend it.

The best Christmas song you've probably never heard. The song extends to the death of Christ, His resurrection, and His upcoming return. Written by Bob Kauflin and performed by Todd Agnew and a bunch of friends: Christy Nockels, Shelley Jennings, Michael O'Brien, and Mike Weaver.

Kate Wolf - Give Yourself To Love

Kate recorded several different versions of her song "Give Yourself To Love"; I like this version the best. I kick myself for never going to see her perform live even though she performed frequently all over Northern California where I lived at the time. Kate passed away in 1986 and she is sorely missed.
Krissy Nordhoff - Your Great Name

Natalie Grant has a popular version of this song out right now, but this is one of my favorite versions. The authors of the song, Krissy Nordhoff and Michael Neale, from The People's Church in Franklin, Tennessee sing vocals here. I made another video of this song a while ago, sung by Danielle Berg and Michael Neale, which is very nice, too. Krissy was unable to sing on that one, since she was eight and nine-tenths months pregnant at the time they recorded the album. I'm glad she finally got the chance to make this recording. A really majestic song. One of my favorites. Very well done.

Lenny LeBlanc - One Desire

The title song from Lenny's 2002 album. A beautiful and romantic song, cleverly crafted by Lenny to depict both the love between a man and a woman and also the love between us and our Lord and Savior. Lenny was a pop singer back in the '80s (remember "Falling" by LeBlanc & Carr? That's the same guy.) Lenny also co-wrote the Dove Award-winning song "Above All" (along with Paul Baloche), as well as writing "There Is None Like You" and many others. That's Lenny's wife Sherrie singing harmony on this song.
Kristian Stanfill - Always

This version of Kristian's song is from the album "Mountains Move". Yes, God promised that He will be here always. In fact, Jesus' last words on earth, until He returns, were "And surely I am with you *always*, to the very end of the age."
