Blues Jam Survival Guide - How To Play The 12/8 Slow Blues Like a Pro

The best place to do this is the "Jam Night". The problem is that most players are either not confident enough with their playing, or just too nervous to get up and jam, or, if they do some jamming, they feel like they just don't have enough chops to really shine once they get on stage. So when TrueFire asked me about doing a course on mastering the jam night I was "all in"! This is a subject that I am sold on. Not only did I use all of my knowledge on the subject, but I also researched and talked with many, many hosts of jams, as well as the folks who get up and do the jamming to really get to the essence of what is the most sure path to jamming excellence. We called this the Blues Jam Survival Guide, because I really think this is all the information you need to be a confident jammer and successfully survive any jam night. Some of the things that I teach in this course: I break down 7 essential grooves you NEED to know at any jam night: Texas shuffle, Slow 12/8 blues, Rhumba blues, Boogie Woogie, Slow shuffle, minor blues, Funk blues. Not only do you get the basics of these grooves but you will also learn 45 different chord variations, embellishments and substitutions to spice them up. Well folks, here's a fun clip featuring another rhythm section, LoL!! Old school drum machine!!! This is a jam featuring an old tractor, a Bolinder-Munktell model VICTOR! A two-cylinder Swedish made farm hand, great for plowing AND for playing the blues.. LoL!! Had a GREAT time jammin' here, a bit tricky since the pace goes up and down, haha, and this was a TEST to see how it would work out., More clips with the delta trio later on!! Blues jam with a Marshall JCM 800 Combo (mod.4210)
Hello. In this video I do a little blues improvisation with a friends Marshall amp. It's a Marshall JCM 800 combo, mod. 4210. I think this little amp rocks, but It would have been nice if the amp had a little more distortion in it. But you can always use a distortion/overdrive pedal to get that extra gain. Anyway, I'm playing over a backing track called "Live With Me BT" or something... I used a condenser microphone this time - MXL 990. The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Standard Desert Burst -05 with Seymour Duncans. I have only one master volume and one master tone control, the other two works as spin-a-splits, which splits the humbuckers, which you can hear if you listen carefully. Still don't know if this is the amp for me, but I like the sound and feel it gives. Hope you'll enjoy it! So long! / Fredric

Just havin' a bit of fun jamming over a blues shuffle. I'm really enjoying this Epiphone Les Paul, I can't believe the tone out of it! especially because it was so cheap! I was a bit of a guitar snob previous to buying this, but not anymore. It's unfair to compare Epi's to Gibbo's, as there's such a big price difference, making Epi's a budget guitar. I think Epi's have a sound and feel of their own and they're well worth the bucks.
