DX5 playing Visage "Fade to Grey" (updated w/lyrics)

Updated version. The pre-recorded voice is a take I did in 2006 (late at night almost whispering to a Shure SM58). As I found it curious I decided to include this take into the video. Also, I improved the previous DX7 take, replacing it with the JP8000. Gear: Upper Keyb: Roland JP8000 Mid: Roland D10 Low: Roland JX8P Backtrack Recorded on Pro Tools. Ultravox - The Thin Wall 1981

Good qualiyty video, best on here. Very rare, I recorded this from Top Of The Pops in 1981..Classic. .British New Wave rock band. They were one of the primary exponents of the British electronic pop music movement of the early 1980s. The band was particularly associated with the New Romantic and New Wave movements. Until 1979, the frontman of Ultravox was John Foxx who left the band to embark on a solo career. Following Foxx's departure, Midge Ure took over as lead singer, guitarist and frontman, and he helped to steer the band to commercial success. Ure left the band in 1987 after establishing a solo career and the group disbanded for a while. A new line-up, led by sole original bandmember Billy Currie, was formed in 1992, but without success. The band's most well known line-up of Currie, Cross, Cann and Ure reformed in 2008 and have toured together since then. The band was formed in 1973 on the initiative of vocalist and songwriter Dennis Leigh, a then Royal College of Art student, and was originally known as Tiger Lily. An initial but incomplete lineup comprised Leigh plus Chris Cross (bass guitar) and Stevie Shears (guitar), with Warren Cann (drums) and Billy Currie (keyboards/violins) joining later in 1974. The group released one single in 1975, Ain't Misbehavin', which contained an eponymous cover of the Fats Waller song, as A-side. Later, the band went through a series of name changes including The Zips, Fire of London, London Soundtrack, and The Damned. Warren Cann ...

Ultravox - Systems Of Love (1993)

Ultravox and 'Systems Of Love' From the 1993 album 'Revelation'. Although this album barely caused a stir in the UK without Midge Ure, a lot was down to some very poor promotion by the record company. This was one the strongest track from the album, and has the classic influence of Billy Currie all over it.

Ultravox - Slow Motion (Live At Reading 1978) (Remastered)

All credits to birdy974 for originally uploading the clips of Ultravox playing Reading in 1978! I discovered John Foxx era Ultravox through those two videos and decided to clean them up slightly (both the picture and the audio) thanks to TMPGEnc and Adobe Audition! Hope they're as good as the originals!!! Enjoy :) This is obviously not true HD quality, I merely resized them to make full use of YouTube's HD capabilities...

Ultravox!(John Foxx) - 1979 US Tour rarities - Radio Beach

In 1979, the original line up of Ultravox! embarked on a, self funded, tour of the USA shortly before singer John Foxx and guitarist Robin Simon departed on return to the UK, leaving the group in limbo. On that tour the band debuted some new songs that had yet to be recorded, two of these, 'He's a Liquid'(Foxx's 1980 electronic masterpiece, Metamatic) and 'Touch and Go'(Foxx's Metamatic, 1980 and as 'Mr X' and 'Herr X' on Ultravox's 1980 album Vienna) would be used again but 'Radio Beach' was only to be performed live. Line-up: John Foxx - vocals Billy Currie - Keyboards, violin Chris Cross - Bass and keyboards Robin Simon - Guitar Warren Cann - Drums

ARP Odyssey Analog Synthesizer (1972)

vintage synth demo by RetroSound ARP Odyssey Analog Synthesizer from the year 1972 The ARP Odyssey was the direct rival to the Minimoog. The sound is fantastic and powerfull. The Odyssey`s sync-sounds are incredible and for me the best oscillator sync sound next to the Moog Prodigy The Odyssey is perfect for very punchy bass and nice lead sounds. One of the best monophonic analog synths ever. more info: www.retrosound.de and http and www.facebook.com Unfortunately it came to a few disturbed noises in the video thru the YT compression. Sorry.

AjantaMusic - Snow On The Beach

Live at "Est Est Est", Chiswick High Street, November 10th 2006 www.AjantaMusic.com About AjantaMusic, Paul and Robin Simon began their careers in music forming bands in their home town of Halifax, Yorkshire. One such band included Billy Currie, later to join Robin in Ultravox. They were then asked to join Limmie Snell [Limmie and the Family Cookin'] in Limmie Funk Limited, which toured the UK. In 1976, the brothers found themselves in London, at the heart of the punk scene around The Roxy Club and The Vortex. They had been introduced by Billy Currie to a protégé of Eno's called Ian North, newly arrived at Island Records from New York. The band they formed together began as Radio and featured Martin Gordon (Sparks) on bass, Ian and Robin on guitar, and Paul as drummer. This evolved into Neo. (Martin's Radio Stars, in which Paul played drums, were an offshoot.) After Neo, Paul joined Cowboys International, via Girls At Our Best and The Fallout Club (featuring Thomas Dolby), while Robin joined Ultravox and Magazine. As the 80s progressed, Paul worked in production with frequent Paul McCartney and George Martin collaborator Fiachra Trench, occasionally joined by Robin, and Tony Lowe. Robin continued to tour and record with John Foxx, occasionally joined by Paul. Tony Lowe, meanwhile, worked with Visage, Pet Shop Boys, and Julian Lennon. By the early 90s, Paul had joined long-time friend Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) in The Mavericks, which became The Philistines, while Robin ...

Ultravox return to eden compilation (High definition 5.1)

These are bits and pieces that I caught at the Vox Concert at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. The full Astradyne Video is on my Bro's site - "Mateybloke" - Great Concert. Just a shame I couldn't get more footage as I was jumped upon by staff! Waiting for the video to come out of this concert. Well worth the price (whatever that'll be). Comments welcome.
