Amos Milburn - Bad Bad Whiskey
Originally from Texas, Amos Milburn moved to Los Angeles and soon became a fixture in the Central Avenue music scenes thriving in Watts during the 1940's and 1950's. As you can hear from his piano style, Milburn would be a great influence on Fats Domino. Thin Lizzy - Whiskey In the Jar (Live 1980)
Another live one from 1980. This is a rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar", live at Cork, Ireland on 4/13/1980. The unique thing about this version is that this was one of the rare times when Thin Lizzy had 3 guitarists in the band. Snowy White had just joined prior to the Irish tour and Midge Ure was still around through this leg of the tour. Scott Gorham (of course) was there as well, rounding out the three guitar lineup. Ure mostly played keyboards, but occasionally would pick up a guitar and play along, as he did on this song. Enjoy!

Whiskey In The Jar: The song "Whiskey in the Jar" is based upon an old traditional Irish drinking tune and soon became Metallica's new drinking song. Album: Garage Inc. The cover of: Although the song "Whiskey in the Jar" revived the first time on a record by the Irish singing group the Dubliners, Metallica covered the version which was originally released by Thin Lizzy in 1972 as a UK single. The subject matter: It is about a young bandit robs an army officer to keep his girlfriend happy and was imprisoned after she betrays him. What Metallica says about it: James: "It's extremely catchy and the fact it isn't really their song is weird, it's some Irish drinking song.
