Unholy - Colossal Vision
Unholy is a Finnish Death/Black/Doom/Avantgarde (?) metal band founded in Imatra, Finland 1988 ( The band was formerly known as "Holy Hell" but it changed it's name in '90. Under former name, the band released an independent demo "Kill Jesus"'89). When Unholy's first demos, untitled demo and "Procession of Black Doom" came out in distribution during the DM boom in early 90's, the style of Unholy was simply too artistic and original for the mainstream death metallers even in Finland. The EP/demo "Trip to Depressive Autumn"'91 however got much good response from the death metal fans and they got signed to Lethal records. Through Lethal records they released their first full-length "From the Shadows"'93 which boldly followed it's own muscial paths. Album never managed to be a hit in DM markets and the deal with the record company began to shatter aswell. Finally the deal was broken and Unholy signed to Avantgarde records. In 1994, band recorded their second album "The Second Ring of Power" which was experimentally taken even further that it's predecessor , using violins, more female vocs and keyborads was the work that the band's members were most satisfied with. However, once again, band's work did not manage to impress mainstream Death metallers and the album had controversial welcoming. Haoma - Instrumental from Gracefallen Unholy was a finnish avant-garde doom metal band. Formed by bassist Pasi Äijö and guitarist Jarkko Toivonen; in 1988 in ounded in Imatra, Finland, they were one of the first doom metal groups in their home country. Unholy originally started as a black metal/doom metal hybrid under the name Holy Hell. After recording its first demo, "Kill Jesus", they changed their name to Unholy. The band achieved underground popularity with its next demo and the 1991 EP Trip to Depressive Autumn, and signed with Lethal Records, an Austrian record label that released the band's first album, From the Shadows, in 1993. Unholy then signed with Avantgarde Music for the next album, The Second Ring of Power, but disbanded soon after its release in 1994. However, they re-formed only two years later. Unholy released their last two albums, Rapture and Gracefallen, also through Avantgarde Music. The band announced they were splitting up on March 25, 2002. The Unholy Three are a magic cabaret trio comprised of magicians David Lovering (drummer of the Pixies), Rob Zabrecky (former songwriter/singer/bassist of Possum Dixon) and Fitzgerald (creator of the cult cable television hit O'Brien's People). The trio formed in 2003 at the Magic Castle in Hollywood by presenting a quickly paced provocative Dada-esque combination of wizardry, mentalism and off-beat humor. The trio has been praised by the magic community which includes favorable reviews by luminaries Penn Jillette (Penn & Teller), Max Maven and Milt Larson. In addition to their performances at the Magic Castle, they perform at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
