Ultravox - The voice 1982

Ultravox - The voice 1982 Native these words seem to me All speech directed to me I've heard them once before I know that feeling Stranger emotions in mind Changing the contours I find I've seen them once before Someone cries to me Oooh, the look and the sound of the voice Oooh, they try, they try Oooh, the shape and the power of the voice Oooh, in strong low tones Forceful and twisting again Wasting the perfect remains I've felt it once before Slipping over me Oooh, the look and the sound of the voice Oooh, they try, they try Oooh, the shape and the power of the voice Oooh, in strong low tones (Instrumental) Sweetly the voices decay Draw on the lines that they say I'd lost it once before Now it cries to me Oooh

ULTRAVOX - Mr. X (live)

The initial premise of Ultravox came from the 70s school of electro-rock from pioneers Kraftwerk and the glam rock of Brian Eno and Roxy Music. Formed in 1974, initially as Tiger Lily, the early line-up comprised Royal College Of Art student John Foxx (b. Dennis Leigh, Chorley, Lancashire, England; vocals), Steve Shears (guitar), Warren Cann (b. 20 May 1952, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; drums), Chris Cross (b. Christopher Allen, 14 July 1952, London, England; bass) and Billy Currie (b. William Lee Currie, 1 April 1950, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England; keyboards, synthesizer, violin). Their rise coincided with the ascendancy of the new wave although they were for the most part ignored by a rock press more concerned with the activities of the burgeoning punk scene and consequently live gigs were frequently met with indifference. Signed to Island Records in 1976, their albums made little impact on the record buying public, despite the endorsement of Brian Eno who produced their first album. However, Ultravox's influence on a growing movement of British synthesizer music, in particular Gary Numan, was later acknowledged. Shears was replaced by Robin Simon in 1978, but after Systems Of Romance ad garnered disappointing sales, Island dropped the act, with both Simon and Foxx (who many felt was the main creative force behind the band) leaving to pursue solo careers. Ultravox was put on hold while the remaining members took stock. On a ojourn with Visage, Currie met Midge ...

ULTRAVOX - We Stand Alone (1981)

Enjoy the song from the "RAGE IN EDEN" album and the clip, I did make for! (-: Ultravox is a British New Wave rock band. They were one of the primary exponents of the British electronic pop music movement of the late 1970s/early 1980s. The band was particularly associated with the New Romantic and New Wave movements. The band was led by two different frontmen who never played together in the band at the same time. From 1974 until 1979, John Foxx was frontman and main driving force behind Ultravox. Foxx left the band to embark on a solo career. Following Foxx's departure, with the three remaining members in hiatus, Midge Ure took over as lead singer, guitarist, and frontman. Ure revitalized the band and drove it to commercial success lasting until the middle 1980s when the New Romantic and New Wave music scenes waned. Ure left the band in 1987 after establishing a solo career and the group disbanded for a while. A new line-up, led by sole original bandmember keyboard player/violinist Billy Currie, was formed in 1992, but achieved little success. The band's best-known line-up of Currie, bassist Chris Cross, drummer Warren Cann and Ure reformed in 2008 and have toured together since. (wikipedia)

Vienna - Ultravox

Lyrics:___________________________ We walked in the cold air Freezing breath on a window pane Lying and waiting A man in the dark in a picture frame So mystic and soulful A voice reaching out in a piercing cry It stays with you until The feeling has gone only you and I It means nothing to me This means nothing to me Oh, Vienna The music is weaving Haunting notes, pizzicato strings The rhythm is calling Alone in the night as the daylight brings A cool empty silence The warmth of your hand and a cold gray sky It fades to the distance The image has gone only you and I It means nothing to me This means nothing to me Oh, Vienna This means nothing to me This means nothing to me Oh, Vienna

Ultravox - The Thin Wall (Full Version, stereo)

"The Thin Wall" is Ultravox's first single from the Rage in Eden album, recorded in Conny Plank's Studio in Cologne, Germany and released on Chrysalis Records on 14 August 1981. The music video, directed by Russell Mulcahy, features Midge Ure struggling to cope among strange and nightmarish imagery, similar to a haunted house setting, while the other band members seemingly plot his demise. The song is a fast and stark synth melody with obscure lyrics like many Ultravox songs and New Romantic music in general. It peaked at #14 in the UK Single Charts. There is no extended version of "The Thin Wall" unlike other Ultravox singles; the A-side on the 12" is identical to the album version, while the 7" version is an edit.
