The summer was saturated with the news and discussions in all the town hall meetings about what we're going to do about healthcare in this country. Even though that is a very important subject and it's going to continue for few months longer, right now though, the Congress is starting into a debate which I consider every bit as important, if not a lot more important. And that has to do with Afghanistan. They're talking about debating whether or not we should send more troops into Afghanistan. And fortunately, I see some of the Democrats now splitting from the President on this issue. The President has always maintained that we need more troops; this is the "good war". He called it the long war, but it's the good war. Not like Iraq, that was the bad war. And now that there is a split there is a chance that we might be able to slow up this interventionism in this region. But right now though it looks like the President will prevail because Presidents generally do prevail because they'll scare the people and they'll say "If you don't, our national security will be threatened". The one thing for certain is that our national security is not threatened by us not being in Afghanistan. Our national security is much more threatened by us being in Afghanistan. Or for that reason, any place in that region at all. That's where our real problems come from. It is argued that they need 240000 <b>...</b>

This is the infamous sketch that was broadcast on ABC1's "The Chaser's War On Everything" on 3rd June 2009, which parodied the Make A Wish Foundation. It copped so much flack in the media (including from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd) that the ABC made an official apology the next day. When the programme's scheduled repeat went to air the following night on ABC2, this sketch had been expurgated. Then the ABC announced that the show wouldn't even go to air for the next 2 weeks. In my opinion, the sketch was a wonderfully inspired, satirical way of delivering the message "Please give money to this worthy cause - if you don't, these kids will miss out on some of life's pleasures which you and I might take for granted, but which they only have a limited time to experience." To the people who have commented that the sketch was OK but the punchline crossed the line: far from being intentionally cruel to the kids, this was their satirical way of making sure that we should understand: "Oh - just in case the satire went over your head and you thought that sketch was only meant to be funny - the awful truth is, these kids will actually die - so don't just laugh or complain - donate some money." I can say that it worked for me, because I made a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation as a result of seeing (and I'm not ashamed to say, laughing at) this sketch. Well folks, its now 9 months since I had the op. I was blown away by the amount of views my first vid got, and have had numerous requests of an update on the scar now a few months on, so here it is! Bearing in mind it still hasn't fully faded and will only continue to improve. I am very proud of my new tum and am pleased with my decision. It did hurt a lot at the start but was bearable with morphine, and I made a speedy recovery. Just try not to laugh or sneeze for the first week!! It costed ÂŁ5000 but was worth every penny. I think I will get my boobs done next :-)
