A thumper from Clifford Curry. Clifford Curry was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He began his singing career during high school. He was a member of several groups including: The Echoes and The Five Pennies (for whom he wrote a 1956 release, "Mr. Moon"), Hollyhocks (1957), and the Bubba Suggs Band (1957-1964). As Sweet Clifford he recorded for the Nashville-based Excello Records label, before beginning work with the Fabulous Six and the Contenders. In 1967, he had a hit on the US R&B chart with "She Shot A Hole In My Soul/ In 1995 he was inducted into the Beach Music Hall of Fame in 1995, along with his peers Maurice Williams and Bill Pinkney.

Willie Hutch was a Northern Soul legend who went on to be a major prolific Motown recording artist and songwriter. He had never appeared in England until finally, in 2003, he performed at the Togetherness weekender in Fleetwood, and Ralph Tee and myself did a deal to film his concert and tell his life story. Whilst he was here, and not wanting to miss such a wonderful opportunity, we did a new recording of his legendary Northern Soul classic "LOve Runs Out', which, to my mind, was the most authentic re-recording we've ever done. Then we spent ages up in Morecambe filming a video for it. Tragically he died shortly after, so this is probably his last ever performance, and we're so lucky it's captured on video for posterity.
This was the title song to the massive DVD box set "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". Tammi was from New York and moved to London. In 1998 we took her to the Blackpool Mecca Reunion where she performed this song specially for the upcoming release, which originally came out first as a video box set in July 1999. This is the actual footage that was shot there, and later on location, to be the title sequence of the entire documentary. But there were so many bits of vintage footage and captions overlaid, that you couldn't actually see her sing the song. So this has never been seen till now.

The original version of this song is quite simply the most sought-after Motown and Northern Soul record of all time.The legendary Motown producer, Frank Wilson, made this solo record for Motown which was so rare, and so in demand, that someone paid fifteen thousand English pounds for a copy. He was a big help with the Motorcity project, in 1989 and 1990, and he and his wife Bunny always stay at my house every time they're visiting London. The Motown single "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" became so huge that everyone wanted to see Frank perform it. For years he refused, but finally he gave in and did so at Fleetwood in 2000, in front of two and a half thousand people, the one and only time he said he would ever do this. But previously to that, we had visited him at his Los Angeles home, and filmed him at the piano, so people got to see, on The Strange World Of Northern Soul DVD, this legendary song being performed for the first ever time.
