The Ford VERTREK concept was announced at the 2011 Detroit North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI and Green Energy News was on-hand for the big announcement. In between the C platform news and the all Electric Ford Focus, Ford brought out this bad boy at their press conference to start the 2011 Detroit NAIAS. To meet the worldwide demand for small, fuel efficient utility vehicles, Ford unveiled the Vertrek to loud applause at the press conference. The vehicle will boast Ford's 1.6L EcoBoost engine which produces 180 HP and 173 ft lb torque in other applications and promises 2.0L Duratorq turbo-diesel engines in Europe. The Vertrek will blend the North American Escape and European Kuga into one aggressively designed crossover. The vehicle will feature several fuel efficient features, including smart stop/start technology and regenerative braking. Green Energy New is hoping the Vertrek will also be available in even more GREEN applications including full electric and plug-in hybrid. One thing is for sure... this thing is SHARP!

She is a really sharp triple white 64 Galaxie 500 XL. The Z-Code 390 runs nice, brakes stop great with new regulators and shoes, and transmission shifts out smooth. This vehicle started life as a light blue, 1975 Ford Gran Torino with a dark blue interior, bench seat, column shift, a dark blue vinyl top and those adorable opera windows (when I hear the fat lady singing I'll finally understand why they put those on cars!). There are still some things on the interior that I hope to replace, and eventually I want to pull the motor, rebuild it, and then paint and detail the engine compartment to like-new quality. My big dream though, is to someday convert it to rack-and-pinion steering for that late-model feel. I've heard it's been done on older Torino's but I'm not sure if it's possible to do on a '75. If anyone can point me to products or performance shops that might be able to handle such a job, please let me know! But the best thing about this car isn't driving it (although that IS fun!). The biggest kick is the joy you bring to people's faces when they see the car. I remember one 7-year-old boy in particular who was in a car driving past me. His face lit up like he'd seen the bestest, coolest thing in the whole wide world! That look on his face and the obvious thrill he got from seeing it is what I love most about this car. Seeing that expression on his face was awesome! :-) The car has 15" on the rear and 14" on the front. You can still get them at AKH Wheels. If you want, I can get you the tire sizes too, just let me know. The stripe was hand laid using a bunch of photos from the TV show and movie. It's the most important element <b>...</b>
