The people in Chile tried to pursue their idea of a new kind of society: equal, free, and justice for all. And this is how the imperialist America destroyed that idea: low-intensity warfare, political and economic sabotage, and support to fascist army leaders that wanted to overthrow the democratically elected government. This is one of the most glaring examples of the inhumanity of imperialism, and it shows the need to keep struggling for a new type of equal democracy that doesn't give rights to people with money but to all people. Never waver in the fight against imperialism, or else it will destroy you instead. The 1973 Chilean coup d'état was a watershed event in the history of Chile and the Cold War. On 11 September 1973, the democratically elected President Salvador Allende was overthrown in a coup d'état organised by the Chilean military.
