The Sector 9 Surf Team invaded The Gold Coast of Australia for one of the gnarliest surf trips in S9 history... The whole crew was there, and the whole crew showed up to kill it! The waves were tasty, the beers were frosty, and we got lucky any of the Americans even came back.

Todos Santos, Mexico, January 5th, 2012: We drove down to Ensenada harbor the night before from Carlsbad. After a sleepless night into the Santos Tomas hotel, we got up just before dawn and negotiated a boat for the day with "amigo". Richard Fox met up with fellow big wave chargers Ricky Whitlock and Damien Fahrenfort. With their team of photographers, we embarked on a 9 person boat ride out to Todos Santos Island where we score huge surf. Forgive the shaky camera - it is difficult to film off boat that is kicked around by 20 foot swells! The guys surfed till dark, literally. A long cold boat ride back to the harbor left everyone tired and beat. Fox and I hit the road back for San Diego at 7:30 PM; we got searched but not hassled by the Federalis in Rosarito, then rolled up to San Ysidro with wide open lanes, yes no wait at the border!! After some quick In-N-Out, we raced home and were back in Carlsbad by 10:30 PM. A 24 hour adventure! Thanks to all the surfers who put on a great show and to Richard Fox for letting me tag along. PS: I have 600 still photographs of the day for anyone who wants copies of their waves.
