●Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) is the organization that sponsors the beauty pageants held annually in the Philippines which choose the national contestants that represent the country in the annual Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss International pageants, among others. ●In the past, the organization has established skills training and educational workshops for the indigents. BPCI has participated in a relief operation in Central Luzon during the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991. Binibining Pilipinas past and then titleholders visited the ash-laden town of Porac, the Tent City in Pampanga, and other refugee camps, to distribute food, medicines and other basic needs to the affected residents that included ethnic tribes that lived on the volcano slopes. The annual pageant is the main source of funds. BPCI has been an official national franchise holder of the Miss Universe Organization since 1964. Stella Araneta is a former Miss Colombia, who became a Miss Universe semi-finalist and the winner of the first Miss International beauty pageant in 1960. The organization has produced two Miss Universe winners (Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Maria Margarita Moran in 1973) and three Miss International winners (Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, and Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005). Pilipinas Fashion Show at the Gateway Mall Activity Area. Despite the fact that not all of them are models, the official candidates oozed with confidence and elegance as they sashayed before an admiring audience. The first part of the fashion show presented the girls in playful summer-styled day dresses in floral and colorful prints. The presentation was choreographed by top fashion director Raymond Villanueva. The fashion show was one of the many activities lined up for Bb. Bb. Pilipinas 2011 Updates Visit: special.opmbworldwide.com Almost taking on a reality show flavor, the 2011 Bb. Pilipinas Beauty Pageant held its FINAL SCREENING Saturday of remaining 54 from the original hundred plus aspirants to the most prestigious international beauty titles held at the Gateway Suites, Araneta Center, Quezon City. The rigorous screening process started weeks ago when the Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. Chair Stella Marquez Araneta and her bevy of current and past beauty queens, including BPCI directors Pitoy Moreno and Conchitina Sevilla Bernardo, started scrutinizing the girls using the criteria of beauty, style, intelligence, talent and poise. A new dimension was added to Saturday's final screening. Candidates were given a minute to give a sneak preview of their unique talents. From singing to dancing to beat-boxing and more, the candidates proved to the guests that they were more than just a pretty face or a sexy body. Of course, the most enthralling moment came when all the remaining aspirants paraded in swimsuits. Gamely walking across a stage in a swimsuit in heels is not exactly the easiest thing to do especially if you are being photographed from all angles. But the candidates made it look easy. The screening committee said that this skill is crucial because apart from body contour and proportion, the judges are also looking for overall fitness, poise and grace. The candidates should be able to exude the same confidence parading in a swimsuit as <b>...</b>
