Tea Party San Francisco Part 2
On April 14, 2009 a diverse group of nearly 1000 residences and visitors of San Francisco gathered in the SF Civic Center. Individuals made signs and spoke to the group. They walked to Speaker, Nancy Pelosi's Office at the Federal Building. Nancy Pelosi, was aware that many of her constituents in this group, wanted to ask her questions. Instead of talking to the group she decided to have a book signing at the Mark Hopkins Hotel. This personal event charged individuals $85 admission, had security screening and did not allow any signs. The protesting crowd was diverse in there political party affiliation, but unified in their belief that the American People are over taxed, the American Government is getting too big, America is slipping towards a Socialist form of government and the US Military should be honored and respected and is the best in the world. The local media either ignored this event or characterized it as a small group of racist, radical right wing extremists who were out of touch. After the event San Francisco Police commented that there was no violence or vandalism associated with this Tea Party protest.
