Ottoman Empire

"Ottoman imperial anthem" The Ottoman Empire, once the greatest empire in existence, spanning three continents and ruling over a multi-ethnic multi-religious hundreds of thousands of populace, the Ottoman Empire had declined by the late 19th century to the point of being known as the 'sick man of Europe'. An inability to effectively industrialize combined with the fierce conservative opposition to any reform whatsoever meant that the Ottoman Sultanate had dropped back well behind the European powers by 1876. When Abdul Hamid II came to the throne, attempts were made to change this, despite the failure of these efforts and the rise of the Committees of Union and Progress(AKA the Young Turks) as aresult however, they did lead to closer ties between Germany and the Empire. This can be shown by the start of construction of the Berlin-Baghdad railway in 1888. As the Weltkrieg began in Europe the Ottomans signed a treaty with the Germans and soon after joined the war against the Entente powers. Despite some initial promising advances, Ottoman forces had begun to collapse by 1918 under British and Arab Pressure and seemed likely to surrender. However, renewed offensives in western Europe by the Germans drew many allied soldiers away from the Middle Eastern theater. Finally, with the fall of France, Germany was finally free to send troops to reinforce their Ottoman Allies. The Battle of Varna 1444 HD - (Ottomans vs Crusaders)

Thank you for watching this video please rate/comment. This video is not realistic it is just an example. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Battle of Varna took place on November 10, 1444 near Varna in eastern Bulgaria. In this battle the Ottoman Empire under Sultan Murad II defeated the Polish and Hungarian armies under Władysław III of Poland and János Hunyadi. It was the final battle of the Crusade of Varna. A mixed Christian army consisting mainly of Hungarian and Polish forces, with smaller detachments of Czechs, papal knights, Teutonic Knights, Bosnians, Croatians, Bulgarians, Wallachians, Lithuanians, Serbs and Ruthenians (Ukrainians), met with a numerically superior Turkish army. The Christian right wing attempted to flee to the small fortress of Galata on the other side of Varna Bay, but most of them were slain in the marshland around Varna Lake. The other Ottoman flank assaulted the Hungarians and Bulgarians. Their push was stopped and turned back. Hunyadi decided to help and advised Władysław to wait until he returned. The young king, ignoring Hunyadi's advice, rushed 500 of his Polish knights against the Ottoman center. They attempted to overrun the Janissary infantry and take Murad prisoner. But the cavalry charge was stopped and the king slain by the unyielding Janissary bodyguards, his head was cut off and later taken to the Ottoman court. The remaining Polish cavalry was smashed by the Ottomans. On his return ...

OTTOMAN EMPIRE WAR SONG (MEHTER MARŞI) (الدولة العثمانية) (Osmanlı Devleti)

Muhteşem Resimlerle Coşmaya Hazır Olun!!! History of the Ottoman Navy The Turkish Navy was once the largest sea power in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Red Sea, Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean; entering the history books of many countries in distant lands such as the British Isles, Scandinavia, Iceland, Labrador, Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Newfoundland and Virginia in the west, to India, Indonesia and Malaysia in the east, and Madagascar in the south. In 1453 the Ottoman fleet participated in the historic conquests of Constantinople (Istanbul), Gökçeada, Lemnos and Thasos. The conquest of the Duchy of Athens in Morea was completed between 1458 and 1460, followed by the conquest of the Empire of Trebizond and the Genoese colony of Amasra in 1461, which brought an end to the final vestiges of the Byzantine Empire. In 1462 the Ottoman fleet conquered the Genoese islands of the northern Aegean Sea, including Lesbos. This was followed by the Ottoman-Venetian War of 1463--1479. In the following period the Ottoman fleet gained more territory in the Aegean Sea, and in 1475 set foot on Crimea on the northern shores of the Black Sea. Until 1499 this was followed by further expansion on the Black Sea coasts (such as the conquest of Georgia in 1479) and on the Balkan peninsula (such as the final reconquest of Albania in 1497, and the conquest of Montenegro in 1499). The loss of Venetian forts in Montenegro, near the strategic Castelnuovo, triggered the Ottoman-Venetian War of 1499 ...

Mughals and Ottomans - The Mighty Mughal Empire - Babür İmparatorluğu - Moğul ve Osmanlı

Selam Eleykum! Mughals = Ottomans = Turks!!! Mughal is a Corrupted word for Mongols. The Ppl of Mongolia are called as Mongols. Since Genghiz Khan started his conquest from Mongolia, the descandants were called as Mongols. They were all PURE TURK BLOOD!!!! Babur was the descandant of Chengiz Khan, whose grandsons embraced Islam. Thus the last stock of non-muslim Turks also became muslims. History of the Caliphate in the Indian Subcontinent : www.hizb.org.uk Hind-istan = Land of Hindi people "-istan" is the suffix in Turish which means " Land of" Clearly the name of current Hindustan (Litrelly means land of hindus) is misnomer as it makes no sense as here are 30% muslims present. Its a land of muslims as well. ***************** Quotes on Islamic History of Al-Hind : www.cyberistan.org Aurangzeb : www.albalagh.net Throughout its existence the Delhi Sultanate (1205-1526), remained a legal part of the worldwide Muslim empire functioning under the de jure suzerainty of the Abbasid caliphs. Sultans considered themselves the deputies of the caliph and derived their validity of their administrative and legal authority only on the basis of delegation. Since the supreme authority of the community legally remained with the caliph, every king and potentate claimed to exercise governmental power for, and on behalf of the Imam of Islam. ---[Shashi S. Revolution of Byzantines against Ottoman tyrants - 1821

The Ottoman oppression of the Greeks sparked the war of independence. Greeks fought for Liberty, Human Rights, Independence. Their Nation was buried by Ottomans but again was reborn by its ashes like the mythic bird "Phoinix". The Greek Empire of Byzantium ended on Tuesday May 29, 1453 when its capital, Constantinople, fell to the Turks. This day is the black day in Greek history. By the end of the 15th century, Greece was under Turkish rule. Over the next 400 years, the Greeks were slaves to the Turks, deprived of their human rights, considered as second class citizens (rayas means beast in turkish language), worked and lived only for their rulers. Harems of Pashas were full of christian girls while the body guards of Sultan (Jenitsars) were christian boys who were taken by force from their parents. The passion for freedom is best described in the war song written by Regas Velestinlis (Ferreos) in 1797: "Better one hour of free live, Than forty years of slavery and prison" . The phrase "FREEDOM or DEATH" signified the Greeks' commitment to achieving their independence. On February 22, 1821 General Alexandros Ypsylantis, the leader of "Philiki Etaireia", along with a small army crossed the Pruth River, which marked the boarder between Russia, Bessarabia, and Moldavia. Unfortunately, he and his army were defeated by the Turks. The unofficial but actual date of the beginning of the revolution was March 23, 1821, when Petrompeis Mavromichales, Kolokotronis, Papaflessas ...

Ottomans Empire

The Ottoman Empire (1299--1922) (Old Ottoman Turkish: دولت عالیه عثمانیه Devlet-i Âliye-yi Osmâniyye, Late Ottoman and Modern Turkish: Osmanlı Devleti or Osmanlı İmparatorluğu), دولت عالیه عثمانیه Devlet-i Âliyye-i Osmaniyye ottoman الإمبراطورية العثمانية Асманская імперыя Osmanlijsko carstvo Osmanisches Reich Ottoman Empire Imperio Otomano Kesultanan Utsmaniyah Impero ottomano Împaratoriya Osmanî Οθωμανική was a multi-ethnic and multi-religious Turkish-ruled state. The state was known as the Turkish Empire or Turkey by its contemporaries; see the other names of the Ottoman State. It was succeeded by the Republic of Turkey, which was officially proclaimed in 1923. At the height of its power (16th--17th century), it spanned three continents, controlling much of Southeastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, stretching from the Strait of Gibraltar (and, in 1553, the Atlantic coast of Morocco beyond Gibraltar) in the west to the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf in the east, from the edge of Austria, Slovakia and parts of Ukraine in the north to Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and Yemen in the south. The Ottoman Empire contained 29 provinces, in addition to the tributary principalities of Moldavia, Transylvania, and Wallachia. The empire was at the centre of interactions between the Eastern and Western worlds for six centuries. The Ottoman Empire was, in many respects, an Islamic successor to earlier Mediterranean empires — namely the Roman and Byzantine empires.

Ottoman Empire 1453 - İstanbul - Constantinople

The rise of the Ottoman Empire (12991453) refers to the period which started with the weakening of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum in the very early 14th century and ended with the Byzantine Empire decline and the Fall of Constantinople in 1453. The rise of the Ottomans correlates with the decline of the Roman Empire, which generated the shift in power from a singular Christian European society to an Islamic influence. The beginning of this period was characterized by the Byzantine-Ottoman wars which lasted for a century and a half. During this period, the Ottoman Empire gained control of both Anatolia and the Balkans. Immediately after the establishment of the Anatolian Turkish Beyliks, some Turkic principalities united with the Ottomans against the Byzantine Empire. The rise period witnessed Sultanate of Rum's defeat against the Mongols in the 14th century and was followed by the growth of the Ottoman Empire (14531683)—a period referred as Pax Ottomana, the economic and social stability attained in the conquered provinces of the Ottoman Empire, by some historians.

SYRIA IN OTTOMAN TIME (تركيا - سوريا) [Wonderful Pictures] الدولة العثمانية

[A SCREAM FOR GLORIOUS SYRIA] Ottoman Syria سورية في العصر العثماني Ottoman Syria is a European reference to the area that during European Renaissance from the late 15th to early 18th century was called the Levant within the early period of the Ottoman Empire, the Orient until the early 19th century, and Greater Syria until 1918. Territory of the Greater Syria under the Ottoman rule in its final historical period included modern Syria, Lebanon, Israel, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jordan, and parts of Turkey and Iraq. Before 1516, historical or Greater Syria was part of the Mamluk Empire centered in Egypt. The Ottoman Sultan Selim I conquered Syria in 1516 after defeating the Mamlukes at the Battle of Marj Dabiq near Aleppo in northern Syria. Selim carried on his victorious campaign against the Mamlukes and conquered Egypt in 1517 following the Battle of Ridanieh, bringing an end to the Mamluk Sultanate. Administrative Divisions When he first seized Syria in 1516, Selim I kept the administrative subdivisions of the Mamluk period unchanged. After he came back from Egypt in July 1517, he reorganized Syria into one large province or eyalet named Şam (Arabic/Turkish for "Syria"). The eyalet was subdivided into several districts or sanjaks. 1861 An Ottoman edict issued in 1861 (effective in 1864) made Mount Lebanon a Mutesarrifiyyet governed by a Mutasarrıf. This meant that the majorly Maronite mountain was no longer subordinate to any of the surrounding Eyalets. The edict also ...
