Nobuhiro Ishida: "Sergio Martinez I'll Fight You * James Kirkland Has No Chin"

FULL 20MiN INTERVIEW @ www.leave-it-in-the-ring.com Nobuhiro Ishida is interviewed by Leave It In The Ring and talks about his recent victory over James Kirkland. He also talks about a fight against Sergio Martinez, which he's happy to immediately accept. His trainer was talking over a bad connection so Subtitles have been added in case there's any difficulty deciphering. Transcribed Yeah he just told me he already knew there was a chance before the fight because James Kirkland came to the fight so he had a chance to beat him. We know James Kirkland didn't expect Ishida would try to knock him out but we saw our chance to take short counter punches. Yes he fought a lot of good fighters many times. (Names some sparring partners). All the fighters have good power so he got use to it in sparring. Yes, before in japan he fought defensive a bit more. But in the United States no one knows him. Then, as his trainer, i told him "Hey, you have to fight!" because no one knows him so he turned kind of offensieve. He won his fight last October against Alvarez, he thought he won the fight. He lost a split decision but he already knows he's ok because it was in Mexico. Mexico fighters fight in Mexico so Mexican people like Mexican fighters. The crowd cheer for their own. Yes, he likes a technical style also. He's got a very good ability to box. He knows how to box. Good skills. I'm talking about the fact he was a defensive fighter before but this time we insisted he had to fight a more <b>...</b>

2/Duo (Nobuhiro Suwa, 1997) - Part 1/6

In preparing for this film, director Nobuhiro Suwa wrote an detailed script and then threw it away at the last moment. Instead, in a manner reminscient of Mike Leigh and John Cassavetes, he worked intensively with the actors to develop their characters and allowed the script to develop from there. Though the film appears to be a standard work of fiction depicting the slow collapse of a relationship between an out-of-work actor (Nishijima Hidetoshi) and his girlfriend (Yu Eri), the dialogue seems fresh and real, filled with sentences that trail off and the Japanese equivalent of "ums" and "ahs." At one point, the director breaks in and barks questions to the actors off-camera, throwing the film into that fuzzy zone between fiction and documentary. This impression is underscored by the handheld camerawork of Masaki Tamura, the cinematographer for legendary documentarist Shinsuke Ogawa.
