During a recent visit to Butlins Minehead I took along lots of old photos of the camp and attempted to recreate them as accurately as possible. Turn annotations on for a description of each photo along with approximate dates they were taken. Most of the older photos are from www.butlinsmemories.com, along with some from my own small collection and elsewhere on the internet. A view from the rear of the WSR's DMU on 17 July 2011. This is my longest video upload which gives a view of almost all of the track from Minehead Station on the Western half of the WSR as far as Watchet Station.I had planned to film the whole length but a passenger boarding at Washford sat near me for a while and wanted to talk! This is the newest section of the WSR which was an extension added in 1874 on to the railway which originally terminated at Watchet.. .

At the end of the 75th anniversary show the Redcoats did party dances with Billy Bear for the kids in Centre Stage. The most popular party dance this year has been Chocolate (sang choco-latte) by Soul Control. This is great - look out for Redcoat Josh's fall during the dance - well he was acting up a bit!

On 1 September 2011 on one of the last fine sunny days of summer! The Balmoral took other passengers on to the Isle of Lundy. It returned to Ilfracombe to take us all back to Minehead later on the next high tide. The evening sun gave us a good clear view of the Exmoor cliffs from the sea along that part of the otherwise remote and inaccessible coastline.

This week all sorts of activities are taking place at Watchet. This video has a look around town which is busy at the height of the holiday season. Then we see a brief ballet performed by Dreams, a dancing school from Minehead which is situated seven miles along the coast, connected by the railway. The School has pupils from various towns in the West Somerset area..
