Mars Hill Men Die

If the ship is going down, men choose death. This is the way God tells husbands to treat their wives in Ephesians 5 - "Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." Today's culture has made equality more of a priority than Christ-likeness. Pastor Mark Driscoll examines the difference between the Bible and our cultural views on gender roles and values in this clip. This clip is taken from the sermon on dating during our Religion Saves and 9 Other Misconceptions series. Find the whole sermon at www.marshillchurch.org

Marriage and Men

Jesus is the only perfect man to ever live. Because most men fail to look to Him as our example, there exists 2 extremes in men: chauvinism and cowardice. Pastor Mark Driscoll preaches to men about being real men who love God and serve their family well in this sermon from Trial. After addressing women last week, this week Pastor Mark preached specifically to men. 1.Your father: Adam (Genesis 1 3) Marriage is a covenant (Prov. 2:16; Mal. 2:14). Men are the covenant head, responsible for their wife and family (Gen. 2:18; 5:2; 1 Cor. 11:2 16, 14:33 34; Eph. 5:21 33; Col. 3:18; Titus 2:3 5; 1 Pet. 3:1). Adam and Eve both sinned, both are at fault, and both are cursed, but God held Adam responsible (Gen. 3:9). Marriage is cursed (Gen. 3:16). Work is cursed (Gen. 3:17 19). Jesus is the only hope (Gen. 3:15). 2.Your Manhood Like Adam, the sins of men fall into two general categories: sins of commission (doing what youre not supposed to do) and sins of omission (not doing what youre supposed to do). This leads chauvinistic or cowardly tendencies: Chauvinism No Sissy Stuff Sam: whatever women do, do the opposite Success and Status Stewart: masculinity = material success Giveem Hell Hank: angry and abusive Im the Boss Bob: domineering and controlling; in authority, not under authority Cowardice Little Boy Larry: never grew up, disorganized, lives with his mother, etc. Sturdy Oak Owen: absolutely dependable but emotionally absent Hyper-Spiritual Henry: Hides behind religious ...

This Is Mars Hill | Orange County

Location & Service Times ow.ly Mars Hill Church is planting a campus in Orange County. We are a part of a national movement of people captivated by the Gospel as historically expressed by Reformed theology and lived out missionally. Most simply, we exist to make disciples and plant churches to the glory of Jesus Christ. Through our Acts 29 church-planting network, we've planted close to 400 churches around the US. On any given Sunday there are over 100000 people worshipping in one of our churches. Pastors like Mark Driscoll, Matt Chandler, and Darrin Patrick are part of the movement and we count men and ministries like John Piper, Tim Keller, and the Gospel Coalition as dear friends. We are excited for what God is going to do through this movement nationally and in Orange County. orangecounty.marshillchurch.org

Who is Jesus? - Mark Driscoll (Mars Hill Easter Service 2011)

These are collected snippets from Mark Driscoll's Easter sermon in Qwest Field 2011. The church service was the biggest church service in the history of the Northwest, when only 16 years prior Mars Hill did not even exist yet. The urgency in his voice and message was apparent. Jesus stands alone and is in a category unto himself. He claimed things no other religious leaders claimed, and He did things no other religious leaders did, namely rising from the dead. All other religions celebrate and have enshrined their leaders tombs. Christians do not, because we do not even know where Jesus was buried since He rose from the dead. twitter: twitter.com Personal website: chiselseason.com

"What if we built a Nickelodeon-type studio? What if we put together short, punchy, age-appropriate, Bible-based lessons about Jesus for kids with characters and fun and interaction? And so this is what we've been working on with Mars Hill Kids." --Pastor Mark This clip is taken from the sermon "Jesus and Children,"preached by Pastor Mark Driscoll at the Mars Hill Church Ballard campus in Seattle, Washington, on May 15, 2011. Mars Hill Seattle Live Audio to download go to www.marshillchurch.org Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer; Here by Thy great help I've come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above. O that day when freed from sinning, I shall see Thy lovely face; Clothed then in blood washed linen How I'll sing Thy sovereign grace; Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, Take my ransomed soul away; Send thine angels now to carry Me to realms of endless day.

"this thing called a website ..."

In one week in the late '90s, the church got kicked out of their building and got robbed of their only computer. They had no way to get a hold of anyone to tell people they'd moved, and no money or even equipment to print anything to announce it. That's when a church member told Pastor Mark about this thing called the internet. This clip is a preview of the God's Work, Our Witness Documentary, which will be shown in all Mars Hill Church services this Sunday, December 4. To find a location near you, visit marshill.com The documentary gives a glimpse at the ups and downs of the early years of Mars Hill Church. It's a story that includes didgeridoos during offering, tithing with one-dollar bills, and one really bizarre avant-garde Japanese concert—but more than any of that, it's a story of how God was incredibly faithful to a group of people who had no idea what they were doing, except that they were committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to building and serving his church.
