Danny Carey - lateralus
Danny began playing drums at the age of thirteen. As Danny progressed through high schooland then college at the University of Missouri in Kansas City he began supplementing his studies in percussion with speculation into the principles of geometry, science, and metaphysics. A commitment to life as an artist brought Danny to LA where he was able to perform as a studio drummer with projects like Carole King and play around town with Pygmy Love Circus. He would later find an outlet for addressing a fuller scope of his potentials in Tool and another project operating under the title of Zaum. Despite not becoming a Mason or aligning himself with any other school of religion, Danny has maintained his heritages interest in occult studies. Endeavors into this realm have manifested periodically, such as the time he achieved insight into a hidden aspect of the unicursal hexagram utilizing an astral journey initiated through meditation and DMT. Danny then set up his drums into proportions utilizing the circle and square of the New Jerusalem and uttered a short prayer relating to the principles of the ace of swords from the book of Thoth. He then performed a ritual utilizing his new found knowledge of the unicursal hexagram to generate a pattern of movement in space relating to Fuller's vector equilibrium model. The resulting rhythm and gateway summoned a daemon he has contained within "the Lodge" that has been delivering short parables similar to passages within the Book of Lies <b>...</b>

This song is saying to think like a spiral, not like a straight line. It also refers to the spiral as a kind of shape that represents our divinity and soul. The spiral is the visual version of the Fibonacci Sequence, which is the ongoing pattern in the song (explanation at bottom). The song is also about trying to become more spiritually aware and connected with the universe and the collective consciousness. "Black, then, white are, all I see, in my infancy" This line refers to the basic colors of humanity, and how in ignorance, we only see the basic. "Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me; lets me see" This line refers to developing as a society into a more intelligent and more aware people. When we start to look deep within and push the boundaries that we know ("push the envelope; watch it bend"), then it will "let us see". We will see more of ourselves and the universe than we thought existed in our ignorance. Someone on the web decoded certain messages in the title track "Lateralus" which led to an alteration of the tracks which seemed to bleed into each other in a brand new way. My version is a little different but ultimately the same. There are a few different versions out there, but mine would be considered "Spiral 2" I think. TOOL - Lateralus LIVE - June 26 2010 in St. Louis
This is a LIVE recording of TOOL playing at the St. Charles Family Arena on June 26 2010. I had to cut about two minutes from the beginning of the video because YouTube wouldn't allow me to put the whole thing. The song is Lateralus from the album Lateralus. The video was recorded on an Apple iPhone 4. Considering the lighting, and the smallness of the lense, I think the video came out pretty well. This whole concert was AWESOME as usual. If you ever get the chance to see TOOL live, then I wouldn't pass it up (even if you're not a fan). TOOL puts on a great show everytime and they really know how to make their fans happy. Enjoy!

Tool Drum Cover - Lateralus so ive had a lot of requests for a tool lateralus drum cover. i didnt know how to play it so i just spent a week straight learning it and i feel like my overall drumming has gotten better, learning the polyrhythms and playing in different time sigs as the band. im glad i decided to cover lateralus. such a good song. i didnt add much too it except at the end. what danny does in the song is brilliant and i wanted to leave it at that and not add too much of my own stuff. i know the intro is long but watch it and enjoi the art added. anyway this is dedicated to all you hardcore TooL fans out there! hopefully i can reach all of u! haha so here it is. enjoi!
