I heard today (April 5) was the day Kurt passed away 17 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long. So grateful for his contribution and inspiration. Not sure I'd be doing this if it weren't for him. He gave us all permission to create no matter what our skill set and reminded me that dreams are possible. Thanks for that. This made me recall a short piece of film I shot when I heard they were making a film celebrating his life. I made it to explore the character and explore creative possibilities. I never sent it to the studio or to anyone but thought I'd share it now... - Jared Leto

I added the words because she's hard to understand through her sobs. I found a transcript of what she said, so I'm sorry if there are any mistakes. I should have double checked better. Here's the FULL suicide note transcript; (Again, found online. Sorry if there are mistakes) To Boddah Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand. All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things. For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do <b>...</b>

Based on more than 25 hours of never-before-heard audiotaped interviews conducted by noted journalist Michael Azerrad, the movie KURT COBAIN ABOUT A SON is an intimate and moving portrait of the late musician and artist Kurt Cobain, told entirely in his own voice — without celebrity soundbites, news clips, sensational or tabloid angles. It's who he was from the man himself, with cinematic imagery shot on film of the three cities in Washington State that played a major role in his life (Aberdeen, Olympia and Seattle) and set to an evocative score by noted Northwest musician and producer Steve Fisk and Death Cab for Cutie frontman Benjamin Gibbard, as well as the music of more than 20 artists who influenced or touched Cobain during his life. In this latest ghost box EVP Recording session I heard a lot of voices of possible ghosts and spirits. Within this short video I have picked out some of the clearest clips for you to hear. As always I like to ask questions about the paranormal world in general rather than the individual entities and energies that inhabit it. In this session however I was asking if I could talk to any possible spirit if I asked to talk to them...would they come through? I was asking for a friend about Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and I did hear a possible disembodied voice mention his name. As ever though, what you see in this short paranormal research film are my own interpretations of the voices and others may hear differently and even hear voices that I have completely missed. What do you hear? Ghost box used in this session was the Radio Shack 12-469 modified radio otherwise known as the shack hack.

Are you a bad person for wanting to see where Kurt Cobain died? And not just died, but violently took his own life after a long, sad battle with depression and drug addiction? Short answer: No. Longer answer: No, as long as you don't trespass or misbehave. The house at 171 Lake Washington Blvd. East—more specifically, the benches in park next to it—is all Nirvana fans have. Cobain has no grave and, until April of this year, no memorial. (His hometown of Aberdeen, Washington, erected a statue in his honor by the famous Young Street Bridge.) After Cobain's suicide in early April of 1994, fans flocked to Viretta Park, and 17 years later, they still do by the thousands every year. Even Google Maps calls it "Kurt Cobain Park."
