Jean-Michel Folon
Jean-Michel Folon (1 March 1934 20 October 2005) was a Belgian artist, illustrator, painter, and sculptor. Folon was born in Uccle, Brussels, Belgium in 1934 where he studied architecture at the Institut Saint-Luc. In 1955 he settled in a gardeners house in the outskirts of Paris. Over a period of five years he drew morning, noon and night. In 1985 he moved to Monaco where he worked in a large workshop surrounded by numerous artists. The first exhibition of his watercolors was in New York in 1969 in the Lefebre Gallery. One year later he exhibited in Tokyo and in the Il Milione gallery in Milan. He also participated in the XXVth Venice Biennale. In 1973 he joined the selection of Belgian artists in the XXVth São Paulo Biennale, where he was granted the Grand Prize in Painting. Over the years his work concentrated on different techniques, including watercolor, etching, silkscreen, illustrations, mosaics, and stained glass, which showed the diversity of his art. He also designed numerous posters, often for humanitarian causes. Around 1988 he created his first sculptures made out of wood. He then moved on to creating sculptures in clay, plaster, bronze and marble, while continuing to paint. Several museums dedicated exhibitions to him, among them the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1971, the Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam in 1976, the Institute of Contemporary Art in London in 1977, the Musée Picasso d'Antibes in 1984, the Museo Correr in Venice in 1986, the Museo <b>...</b>

Music: Jean Michel Jarre | Title: Bells | Album: Metamorphoses | Year: 2000 The Twelve Dreams Of The Sun was a concert held by musician Jean Michel Jarre on the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt starting on December 31, 1999 and carrying overnight to January 1, 2000. It was attended by 120000 people. The concert consisted of two parts, the Main Concert and a Sunrise Concert. The concert cost approximately $9500000 and it originated when Jean-Michel Jarre was contacted by the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak with a special project to celebrate the dawn of the new Millennium at the foot of the only remaining monument of the original 7 Wonders of the World - the Great Pyramids. Jarre's team had developed giant projections to be displayed on the faces of the Great Pyramids, however a heavy cloud of fog made the pyramids almost invisible, so most of the projections were discarded. Parts of the concert were broadcast live on TV stations around the world.

Jean Michel Jarre at young age, performing his Oxygene IV in the Dutch television show 'TopPop'. Notice his random play on the keyboards, an obvious playback performance, much more common back in 1978. At the time, his performance with all the synthesizers alone gave the audience a huge enough impression. Many even wondered how he could perform the song all by himself. On this program we see a rare interview with the mercurial painter, Jean-Michel Basquiat, conducted in 1981 in his studio on Crosby Street, in SOHO. Basquiat, an internationally renowned artist as well as the enfant terrible of the 1980's art scene, died tragically in 1988 at the age of 28. Both during his brief life and since his untimely death, stories and legends abound which chronicle his meteoric rise to art world stardom. In 1996 Basquiat's life was fictionalized in the film entitled BASQUIAT, directed by fellow artist Julian Schnabel. On this ART/new york program, the 21 year old Basquiat is interviewed by art historian - curator Marc H. Miller, PhD. This short film was included on the second disc of the 2-disc Collector's Edition of the "Finding Nemo" DVD. Directed by Roger Gould, it was fully produced (or at least published) by Pixar Animation Studios. It includes the voicework of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Alexander Gould. Summary: Jean-Michel Cousteau presents us with one of his documentary films, and this one is about the coral reefs and how they live. What they eat, how human life affects them, and how they reproduce is covered. I believe sharing this short film on YouTube qualifies as Fair Use under current United States copyright laws. "Fair Use" allows for the posting of copyrighted material online so long as its purpose is for critical commentary or similar use regarding the understanding of a work. Wikipedia has more information about what Fair Use is (what with their countless non-free images having fair use rationales on them). Anyway, enjoy! And please comment on this work of Pixar's. The whole point of me posting it here is so that you can comment on it. I am really happy that I was able to rip this video off of my DVD, with the help of a certain tutorial video here on YouTube - and two bits of cool software it showed me.
