Designed for performance surfing in between swells. Concaves all the way throughdeepest at the fins keeps it running fast in the small stuff. Stinger swallowtail makes for more pronounced hip and pivot point to release water and increase looseness. Uses boxy rails to push back in turns. Everything the high performance shortboards do in the good waves this board does in the crud. Ridden 3-4 inches shorter and 1/4" to 1/2" wider. Designed for performance surfing in between swells. Offspring of the Lil' Rascal....Rascal II performance fish surfboard
After contemplating just how much fun I'd had on my Lil' Rascal over the last year and a half, I decided to spruce up a couple things here and there.and see what happens.and guess what? it goes gangbusters. Not meant to replace the trusty original Rascal; heres the breakdown on the Rascal II: I added a touch more curve into the last 12 inches of the nose rocker so it rails nice and tight in little nook and cranny pockets without the front end hiccupping. I put in a concave deckfeels like your riding in the waveits pretty rad kinda like a skate deck. I also shaped in four shallow parabolic (fancy for curved) channels that provide added lift, drive and directional hold without the tracking or cavitation associated with traditional channels. A moontail acts like an exhaust pipe to release the water being compressed through the channels.keeps the tail crisp and free so you can break it loose when you want to. Thruster / quad setup. Da Monsta. It's Alive
I've created a monster....no, a Monsta... This is the most popular and widely ordered board I have been making over the last three years....it has become most surfers' "normal everyday board for all conditions". The only complaint has become, "I don't ride any of my other boards anymore!" This new life form is the high performance great grandchild of the Lil' Rascal....it has morphed, grown a bit sleeker, but has stayed true to it's roots of blistering speed through its heritage of a shorter, wider, stalkier persona. Where this offspring has matured and pushed past it's predecessors is in the area of versatility and in-the-pocket mobility. The Monsta keeps the speed constant....you don't have to rely so much on the wave dictating where you'll derive your speed from....the board just goes, yet has the hold of a normal good waves shortboard when you bare some teeth into your turns. Where the Rascal utilized a spiral vee contour running through the fin cluster, I've plowed all those guts out of the Monsta and left one deep even concave with subtle inset doubles running through the fins...as well there is also concave running right off the tail block; we call it the 'exhaust pipe'. Ride Da Monsta 3-4 inches shorter and 1/2" wider than your standard good waves shortboard. I have dropped a bit of the entry rocker from the original Superbank design, but have kept the mid through the tail rocker the same and kept the same hull contours (single to inset doubles). Virr Short Film - Vanity of Wishes
The goes and woes of the individual and the many often pass by the unsuspecting. The film looks at the intricacies of emotions between a couple arranging to meet. This is narrated with the great english poem 'The Vanity of Human Wishes' which was the influence behind Virr's current range. Incorporating pieces from the accessory label Virr, Vanity of Wishes looks at elusive beauty, and the often ambiguous nature of those fleeting moments. To watch carefully, one may discover hidden meanings correlating with words, and the events of the film. This is to be discovered by the viewer and offers a chance to reflect on ones own personal perspective, and how they relate to it. Poetry, esoteric philosophy and the archaic gentleman & lady were driving influences behind the making of the range & film.
