'Ground invasion of Iran would make Iraq look pretty'

Russia has issued a clear warning to Israel over a possible attack on Iran. The Foreign Minister was responding to the Israeli president's suggestion that a military strike on Iran is more likely than diplomacy. Sergey Lavrov said any such attack would be a serious mistake with unpredictable consequences. The UN nuclear watchdog is about to report on Iran's nuclear activities where it's thought it will reveal computer models of an atomic warhead and other weapons-related work. Israel's main ally, the US, says it will focus on diplomacy but is ready to keep all options open. Political analyst Ivan Eland says Washington is unlikely to support Israel's push for an attack. Seymour Hersh: Propaganda Used Ahead of Iraq War Now Being Reused Over Iran's Nuke Program

www.democracynow.org - While the United States, Britain and Canada are planning to announce a coordinated set of sanctions against Iran's oil and petrochemical industry today, longtime investigative journalist Seymour Hersh questions the growing consensus on Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program. International pressure has been mounting on Iran since the UN International Atomic Energy Agency revealed in a report the "possible military dimensions" to Iran's nuclear activities, citing "credible" evidence that "indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device." In his latest article for The New Yorker blog, titled "Iran and the IAEA," Hersh argues the recent report is a "political document," not a scientific study, in an interview with Democracy Now! Nov. 21. "They [JSOC] found nothing. Nothing. No evidence of any weaponization," Hersh says. "In other words, no evidence of a facility to build the bomb. They have facilities to enrich, but not separate facilities to build a bomb. This is simply a fact." US Envoy to Iraq Talks About the Future

US President Barack Obama announced on Friday that his country planned to fulfill its promise of withdrawing 39000 soldiers from Iraq by the end of the year; nine years after America invaded the country in 2003. In an interview with Al Arabiya, US ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey, spoke of the phase following the troop's withdrawal and the impact this would have on Iraq's political scene and its relationship with the US Jeffrey said one of the main components of US support after the withdrawal was on foreign military sale contracts, worth around $8 billion, which in essence calls for American companies to deploy contractors to Iraq, and the US embassy to provide the logistics and necessary steps to maintain stability in the country. When asked about security concerns regarding remaining al-Qaeda factions in Iraq or sectarian clashes, Jeffrey said that Iraq security forces are capable of dealing with them, and have witnessed dramatic improvement in providing law and order. He added that acts of terror from such influences have been limited to occasional attacks and threats. Jeffrey stated that foreign intervention, such as the presence of Kurdish militant groups like the PKK and PJAK, was normal, and that Iraq was able to coordinate with international agencies to continue warding off such related threats. Since the US invasion, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died while 4400 US soldiers lost their lives in the war. Speaker: James Jeffrey --US Ambassador to Iraq By ...

Iraq's Parliamentary "Hawk Squad"

Although it is true that men are the main protagonists in Iraq's political scene, women have carved a special place for themselves as key players to be reckoned with in parliament. The list is a long one and includes Hanan al-Fatlawi who has won her seat in the Transitional National Assembly in the last two parliamentary elections. Fatlawi proved she was fearless when she conducted interrogations of the electoral commission. The deputy narrated how she practiced for those interrogation sessions. "This office witnessed many rehearsals. I used to bring one of my sons to play the role of Faraj al-Haydar (head of the election commission) and imagine how the interrogation process might be." Despite their different intellectual and political orientation, Fatlawi and other female parliamentarians often proved to be a challenge for parliamentary speaker, Osama Al Najifi especially after they took on the subject of parliamentary expenditures. Fatlawi says that women face many challenges working in politics and it is not an easy task. "It is a matter of trusting women's capabilities and giving them the opportunity to fully participate in the political sphere. However, women still face roadblocks," she said. Fatlawi admits that prior to running and winning in 2003, she never imagined herself as a politician. "I wanted to pursue medicine, and spent all my life in the medical field. But fate had other plans and after the regime collapsed, I found myself being elected for the first ...

War by Deception Director's Cut (911 and Iraq lies from the same cabal)

The best film on 911 or the Iraq War. Oh look the comment section taken over by missile tards. Imagine my lack of shock. Just ignore a 3hr film and shoot your mouth off about your nonargument based on authority and ignorance. If you are one of these idiot that think the US decided to blame a hijacking on al qaeda but then used a missile for no reason instead, then see the attached video called a plane hit the pentagon baby steps for retarded kooks. It's easy to pick apart loose change with its missiles, pods, and complete absence of who or how anyone got bombs in the buildings, it's easy to pick on Alex "illuminuts" Jones, and easy to pick on David "lizard-aliens" Icke, etc but it's not easy to pick apart work and film grounded in verifiable reality which is what I have done. my site www.rys2sense.com No DVDs because the quality sucks. I do not have the means to burn a 3hr film on two disc and mail them from Japan. Just download it yourself and burn a DVD if you need to watch it on a TV. Best thing to do is to send the link around. Zionism is also a political ideology not a race.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon (Ancient Iraq)

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were considered to be one of the the greatest Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one of the Wonders which may in fact have been legendary. They were purportedly built in the ancient city-state of Babylon, near present-day Al Hillah, Babil, in Iraq. They are sometimes called the Hanging Gardens of Semiramis (in reference to the legendary Queen Semiramis). The gardens were supposedly built by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II around 601 BC. He is reported to have constructed the gardens to please his homesick wife, Amytis of Media, who longed for the trees and fragrant plants of her homeland. The gardens were said to have been destroyed by several earthquakes after the 2nd century BC.

Iraq: Oil and Gas Part 1

The weekly program: Oil and gas dedicated a special episode about Kurdistan in Iraq. The program shed lights on the oil sector, which is a pillar of the province's economy, after the government enacted a law to regulate this sector in 2007. Al Arabiya camera passed on the three largest oil fields in the region: Toki, Taq Taq and Khurmala which represent together more than 90% of the oil production in the region, 225 thousand barrels per day. The episode included interviews with international and local oil companies' officials, operating in Kurdistan, to explain their current and future plans. The program inquired about the opinions of oil companies on the Interim Agreement between Erbil and Baghdad which was signed at the beginning of the year and which revived the flow of oil exports from the region, after it stopped in 2009. The discussion focuses on the main challenges facing the oil sector in the region, particularly the disagreement between Erbil and Baghdad over the sharing of the revenues from oil exports, while everybody is eagerly waiting for the federal law regulating the oil and gas sector in Iraq, expected to be promulgated in the end of 2011.
