Testing out the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000! This polska is from Dalsland. It's supposed to have been played early 1600 at Stockholm castle when Gustav II Adolf was dancing with the love of is life, Ebba Brahe. But the people around Gustav II did not think she was god enough to become Queen. So they never got married. There have been letters found were it's shows that they where equally in love! Aint life a bummer! I have the guitar tuned C, G, CGC,C (with the capo on 2nd fret you get D, A , D, A, D, D).

The Father of Modern Warfare

Gustav II adolf The great Gustav II Adolf, (9 December 1594 6 November 1632 (OS)[1] or Gustav II Adolphus, widely known in English by the Latinized name Gustavus Adolphus and variously in historical writings sometimes as simply just Gustavus, or Gustavus the Great, or Gustav Adolf the Great, (Swedish: Gustav Adolf den store, from the special distinction passed by the Swedish Parliament in 1634), was founder of the Swedish Empire (or Stormaktstiden "the era of great power") at the beginning of what is widely regarded as the Golden Age of Sweden. In the era, which was characterized by nearly endless warfare, he led his armies as King of Sweden—from 1611, as a seventeen year old, until his death in battle while leading a charge during 1632 in the bloody Thirty Years' war—as Sweden rose from the status as a mere regional power and run-of-the-mill kingdom to one of the great powers of Europe and a model of early modern era government. Sweden expanded to become the third biggest nation in Europe after Russia and Spain within only a few years during his reign. Some have called him the father of modern warfare,[2] or the first great modern general. It is indisputable that under his tutelage, Sweden and the Protestant cause developed a host of good generals—who continued to expand the empires' strength and influence long after his death in battle. He was known by the epithets "The Golden King" and "The Lion of the North" by neighboring sovereigns. Gustavus Adolphus is today ...

Gustavus Adolphus

Gustavus Adolphus or Gustav II Adolf was the King of Sweden from 1611 to 1632. Known as the "Lion of the North" he is most famous for his intervention in the 30 Years War, sponsored by the French. King Gustavus Adolphus was a military genius, being innovative in the development of new tactics, a clear strategic thinker and a courageous commander on the field of battle. Probably no other commander on the Protestant side in the 30 Years War could match his ability. He was killed at the battle of Luetzen when his forces looked to be defeated but his troops were so outraged by the death of their beloved warrior-king that they rallied and won the day.

The battle of fraustadt 1706

SUBSCRIBE TO EXELLENT HISTORICAL VIDEOS AND TRIBUTES ABOUT NORDIC HISTORY (MOSTLY SWEDISH HISTORY) The Battle of Fraustadt (February 3, 1706) was a decisive Swedish victory over Saxony-Poland and their Russian allies, early in the Great Northern War near Fraustadt (present-day Wschowa) in Poland. One of the main reasons Rehnskiöld hurried to engage Schulenburg was that August II of Poland was only 120 kilometers away with about 8000 cavalry.

King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden

Gustaf VI Adolf - Oscar Fredrik Wilhelm Olaf Gustaf Adolf - (11 November 1882 -- 15 September 1973) was King of Sweden from October 29, 1950 until his death. He was the eldest son of King Gustaf V and his wife Victoria of Baden. Through his mother Victoria, Gustaf VI Adolf could claim to be the direct heir to Gustav IV of Sweden of the deposed House of Holstein-Gottorp (Swedish line) and the House of Vasa as well as the Bernadotte kings of Sweden. He was born in Stockholm and at birth created Duke of Skåne. On 29 October 1950, he succeeded his father on the throne. His personal motto was Plikten framför allt, "Duty before all". He married, firstly, Princess Margaret of Connaught on 15 June 1905 in St. George's Chapel, at Windsor Castle. Princess Margaret was the daughter of HRH Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of the United Kingdom. He married, secondly, Lady Louise Mountbatten, formerly HSH Princess Louise of Battenberg, on 3 November 1923 at St. James's Palace. She was the sister of Lord Mountbatten and aunt of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It was Lady Louise who became Queen of Sweden. Both Queen Louise and her stepchildren were great grandchildren of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom.

Why do people visit places where other people were born, lived, fought, or died? What does it mean to be a tourist? There was no time to waste on October 3rd, 2008, the 18th anniversary of the German reunification. This journey along the German autobahn A 38, from East to West, from Leipzig to Göttingen, could only take one day. 21 sleepless hours, to be precise. This is not a movie. This is a wild 23-minutes crossover combining elements of documentary, mockumentary, travel clip, freestyle, different subcultures, YouTube chic, and a load of explicit or obscure allusions to German and Western culture. Thus it follows a tangential structure. Most of the things are just mentioned or shown briefly, it is more like an index to actual contents. Among others, Gustav II Adolf, Nietzsche, Goethe, Cortázar, Pushkin, and infamous German field marshal von Hindenburg are referenced. There is also room for phantasmagoric approaches, like an excessive dialogue about the origin of ABCs hit series Lost. A visit to the worlds biggest rose collection with more than 8300 breeds represents historys vulgar romanticism. But also the battlegrounds of the great European wars are passed by, as are poets and philosophers birthplaces, and obscenely large national monuments. Wikipedia is quoted briefly to exemplify the triumph of in-situ knowledge; Creative Commons music by Revolution Void adds some style, not to forget the voice-over hommage à Werner Herzog.

SUBSCRIBE TO EXELLENT HISTORICAL VIDEOS AND TRIBUTES ABOUT THE HISTORY COVERING 1500 BC-1945 AC the real story of the battle.... The Battle of Lützen was one of the most decisive battles of the Thirty Years' War. The Protestant army achieved its main goal of the campaign - to rescue Saxony from the Imperial onslaught. A more long-lasting consequence of the battle was the death of the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus, leader of the Protestant forces. Without him to unify the German Protestants, their war effort lost direction. The Catholic Habsburgs had time to recoup their losses and regain their balance, and the war continued until the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. loOk on it in FULLSCREEN
