'EU pushing Greece towards revolution'
Much-needed rescue cash will finally start flowing into Greek coffers later this month, as the Eurozone group clears the way for a 130-billion Euro bailout. However, the International Monetary Fund is yet to confirm its part in the deal despite Greece agreeing a bond-swap deal with private creditors. Why does the EU join in sanctions against Iran?
The European Union has now joined the US and Canada in sanctions against Iran. The sanctions are an attempt to prevent Iran from furthering their nuclear enrichment program. Despite Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta admitting that Iran is not making nuclear weapons, the futile sanctions continue. The EU makes up for 20 percent of Iran's oil exports and many experts believe Iran won't feel the effects of the sanctions. EU provides extra funds to resettle refugees
www.euronews.com The EU will give more money to individual member countries to resettle refugees. The extra cash comes after MEPs accused the bloc of failing to take in its fair share. UN figures for this year show at least 172000 people need urgent resettlement. But, the global number of places up for grabs is less than half that. Last year, Europe granted some 5000 people official refugee status. Many fewer than the US. In addition, only 13 out of 27 countries took part in the EU programme. MEPs, who fought for a funding increase, say the extra money will be vital. "We will create a resettlement unit. That should probably be completed by next year in the European Office for Asylum. There's a possibility we'll be able to pool resources so we can get more treatment centres and teams to go to refugee camps. They would provide language assistance and also be able to evaluate the individual refugees cases,'' said Green MEP Rui Tavares. Currently the EU gives countries 4000 euros for every person resettled. Under the new scheme, funding will be increased to 6000 euros in the first year, dropping to 5000 the year after. EU introduces 'right to be forgotten'
The European Commission on Wednesday presented a new "comprehensive" reform on data protection rules. This to replace the current laws that came into force back in 1995. Brussels wants to give people more control over their personal data by introducing the controversial "right to be forgotten". Under the proposed law, people can ask companies to delete information that they hold about them. Companies who don't comply could face fines of up to 2% of their annual turnover. Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding said that having a single set of rules for the entire European Single market will save businesses more than 2 billion euros per year and that it will boost confidence in online services. Businesses critical of the reform have described this proposal as a "tax" for companies that work with people databases. Consumer groups are cautiously optimistic and believe the new rules can be effective if they take consumer rights into account while retaining flexibility to respond to new technologies, especially in social media.

The Euro's future has been dealt a severe blow at eleventh hour talks in Brussels, as the UK refused to sign up to new EU treaties, leaving the rest of Europe to figure out a different approach. Marathon overnight talks mean the core Eurozone states will now make any further agreements among themselves, while other European countries can still join in to work out budget rules and changes. As Europe's leaders roll up their sleeves and prepare to slug it out for the euro's very survival, German parliamentarian Frank Schaeffler explains to RT why piling new debts on top of old ones can only lead to collapse. RT: How would you grade the efforts by Merkel and Sarkozy to save the eurozone, and are they heading in the right direction? The European Union needs the steps that would bolster the market economy and that would be adjusted so that they could fit into the market economy.
