65daysofstatic ~ The Announcement

'' In February of 2011, 65daysofstatic performed a live re-score of Douglas Trumbull's 1972 sci-fi classic 'Silent Running' at Glasgow Film Festival. Originally intended to only ever exist for those two nights in Scotland, the reaction the band received was extraordinary. They had written 90 minutes of brand new music specifically for the project, and the whole score was synced so precisely to every explosion and gesture on the screen it was as if this old film had been edited directly to the music 65 had created. Word got around and 65 have ended up performing this live re-score around Europe throughout 2011. In July, they floated the idea of recording it and releasing it as a limited edition vinyl record. They used 'Indiegogo' to gauge people's interest, setting a modest target of $7500 to raise over the course of a month, to pay for recording time and the production of the vinyl that people who supported the project would receive. They hit that target in less than four hours. By the end of the day it had doubled. By the end of the month, they had raised over four times as much as they had asked for, courtesy of the '65kids', their extremely loyal and enthusiastic fanbase. On top of this, Simon from the band also built 10 boutique 'noiseboxes' that they used on the recordings, then offered to fans. These proved so popular that they managed to break the Indiegogo website. Because of the phenomenal demand, the vinyl is already sold out - long before it even went into ...
