Also got GTA IV from the special Steam sale for a ridciulous price of $7.49 which was a big steal. This game gave my 4890 a run for its money but my 4890 pulled through. Chugging around 25 - 50 fps. At night, it goes around 20fps. The game still looks spectacular even though I'm only using high settings which isn't that bad at all. In this part, I'll be doing more active things other than driving around to get a lot of action and movement on the screen. I've changed the settings a little bit. Here's a video on Prototype running on my ATI Radeon HD 4890 Sapphire 1gb. Settings are maxed out including Anti-Aliasing and its running at a resolution of 1440 x 900. Getting around 60fps + without Fraps running and 30 - 40fps with Fraps on. Gameplay is fun and intuitive and the moves are awesome to execute but graphic wise, I would like to believe that the console version looks a lot better. Textures look very low res and there are quite a lot of jagged edges even though Anti-Aliasing is maxed out in the game. Also got GTA IV from the special Steam sale for a ridciulous price of $7.49 which was a big steal. This game gave my 4890 a run for its money but my 4890 pulled through. Chugging around 25 - 50 fps. At night, it goes around 20fps. The game still looks spectacular even though I'm only using high settings which isn't that bad at all. Here's a video of Terminator Salvation running on my ATI Radeon HD 4890. I found it weird that there weren't any graphic settings other than changing your resolution. It's preset so just a warning if you're planning to buy this game (which I recommend you don't). I decided to enable 16x anisotropic filtering and 8x anti-aliasing through CCC. As shown in the video, I'm running at my native resolution of 1440 x 900. The game itself seemed rushed prior to development in order to debut at the same time as the movie. There are many glitches here and there. The game also shows a lot of jagged edges, pop in's, slow downs, stiff animation and weak sound effects. A prime example would be the section in the video where John Conner is in the truck shooting the .50 cal. gun. The sound of the gun is just dull and depressing (an opinion obviously) Technical wise, it's not that great, however, the gameplay is pretty solid. Moving from cover to cover is great and shooting is somewhat solid. AI are smart and dumb at times at the beginning, but they might get much stronger and powerful later on in the game, but I'm not sure since I barely started playing the game. Judging from reviews, the game is very very short and not worth the "bang for your buck". Just showing how RE5 runs on a decent PC. Youtube no longer supports 60 fps videos but they still have the old ones. What you're seeing on here is just 30 fps. I wanted you to check out that other video in 240p to see what 60 fps looks like. That way you'd have an idea of how smooth 100+ fps is. You CAN build a decent budget gaming pc for $500-$600. For my first computer I bought a Compaq Presario with a decent processor and just popped a 9800 GT and new PSU in it. The Presario was $400 and the psu and gfx card together were only $200. It ran Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, etc at 60 fps 90% of the time. This build though I put together from scratch and invested about $1000 into it.
