DAWN OF TOMORROW, 1939 New York World's Fair Part 1

Part 1 - DAWN OF TOMORROW - The 1939 New York World's Fair. This new film series covers the entire "World of Tomorrow" from 1939 to 1940 in New York City during the legendary '39 NYC World's Fair! Filmed by the production team that made Westinghouse, Dawn of Tomorrow features interviews with those who experienced the Worlds Fair firsthand in Flushing Meadows NY, near Queens and on the same site as the 1964 World's Fair. It was called the World of Tomorrow and showed what the world was going to look like 20 years after 1939. The fair helped to bring the country out of the great depression, or at least to lift the spirits of those who were there. Inspired by the great fairs of the past like the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago where George Westinghouse, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Frank Lloyd Wright, Teddy Roosevelt and Henry Ford attended, the '39 fair featured new technology like television, automated cow milking machines, giant robots like Elektro and the amazing GM Futurama. Those visiting the fair had no idea that World War 2 was about break out months after it's start, in fact WW2 would set back many of the inventions showed off in New York. Part 1 of a multi-part documentary short film series. Features rare, never before seen footage, photographs, photos and films from the fair, transferred from 16mm film. Very rare full color and black and white film reels shot by an amateur photographer at the fair during the summer. www.Inecom.com

Dr. Josiah Boone: Seems to me I knew your family, Henry. Didn't I fix your arm once when you, oh, bumped off a horse? Ringo Kid: Are you Doc Boone? Dr. Josiah Boone: I certainly am. Ah, let's see... I'd just been honorably discharged from the Union Army after the War of the Rebellion. Hatfield: You mean the War for the Southern Confederacy, sir. Dr. Josiah Boone: I mean nothing of the kind, sir! Ringo Kid: That was my kid brother broke his arm. You did a good job, Doc, even if you was drunk. Dr. Josiah Boone: Thank you, son. Professional compliments are always pleasing. What happened to that boy whose arm I fixed? Ringo Kid: He was murdered.

Peace On Earth. Classic Christmas cartoon. MGM 1939.

Peace on Earth is a one-reel 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon short directed by Hugh Harman, about a post-apocalyptic world populated only by animals. Two young squirrels ask their grandfather on Christmas Eve who the "men" are in the lyric "Peace on Earth, good will to men." The grandfather squirrel then tells them a rotoscoped history of the human race, focusing on the neverending wars men waged. Ultimately the wars do end, with the deaths of the last men on Earth, two soldiers shooting each other. Afterwards, the surviving animals discover a copy of the Bible in the ruins of a church. Inspired by the book's teachings, they decide to rebuild a society dedicated to peace and nonviolence (using the helmets of soldiers to construct houses). The cartoon features an original song written to the tune of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing". According to Hugh Harman's obituary in the New York Times and Ben Mankiewicz, host of Cartoon Alley, the cartoon was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. However, it is not listed in the official Nobel Prize nomination database. Mankiewicz also claimed that the cartoon was the first about a serious subject by a major studio. In 1994, it was voted #40 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field. It was also nominated for the 1939 Academy Award for Short Subjects (Cartoons).

The Flying Deuces (1939) - Full Movie

This was the first comedy that Laurel and Hardy starred in without producer Hal Roach, although they had previously been "guest stars" in four MGM movies. After they finished making "The Flying Deuces," they returned to Hal Roach Studios to make films. In order to make this movie, producer Boris Morros bought the rights to the 1931 French film "Les deux legionnaires," which had a similar plot. "The Flying Deuces" was Morros' first independent production and it was shot in continuity over a span of four weeks. Only one day was reportedly needed for retakes. The French original starred Fernandel and Noel Noel. SYNOPSIS: Ollie is in love with a woman. When he find out that she is already married, he tries to kill himself. Of course, the suicide is prevented and the boys join the Foreign Legion to get away from their troubles. Eventually, they are arrested for trying to desert the Legion and escape the firing squad by stealing a plane. The Flying Deuces is in the public domain and can be downloaded here for free: www.archive.org

Золотий вересень. 1939-1941Golden September ENG

The idea was to make a film on September 17, a year before its premiere, since September 17, 1939 the Soviet army entered the Western Ukraine, started the occupation. That is historical fact urged film makers to believe that about this event to make a film. Another reason to make a film: "These are people who still live today, and were eyewitnesses of those events", - told the producer of the film Taras forehead. [1] The film differs from the usual models of Ukrainian documentary format by «Discovery», which envisages the use of modern perspectives, and equipment during the removal, the film is close to art. Most of the scenes played by professional actors.

Pacelli, Pius XII - part 1 (election 1939-1940)

First to voice any opinion that could be fruit of stereotyped ideas or ignorance try to see and to read the real history and to understand the real reasons that forced Pacelli to keep silent about some events, this doesn't mean his collusion with Nazism, on the contrary, he has done his all first to prevent and then to fight every totalitarianisms. The modern man gets used to suspicion and to bad faith and this has closed his heart and blocked his possibility to catch the real sense of a righteous person's action especially when he works in silence and unseen.

People Hunting with Cheetahs, India 1939

This is a segment from the film Life with an Indian Prince. In 1939 two young Americans traveled to India to experience the falconry practices of Indian royalty and to photograph and film wildlife for National Geographic. In addition to hunting with birds of prey, members of the royal party used to hunt with cheetahs. This sport and way of life has disappeared into history. This rare footage is quite unique, and most probably the only of its kind.

"Premakes" Gone with the Wind with Vampires (1939)

Subscribe to my channel for more premake trailer fun! UPDATE: I'm re-uploading this video with a slight typo correction. Apologies to everyone. In the same vein as the books "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters", comes "Gone with the Wind with Vampires", an alternate reality version of the beloved Southern epic. The film tells the story of Scarlett O' Hara, one of the last surviving human beings, who is caught in the midst of a great vampire civil war. Marvel as she outwits the forces of the undead, while she flirts with her true bloo... er... love. Complete with heartaches and staked hearts, "Gone with the Wind with Vampires" will 'blow' you away. The following clip is fake, independent, and not for profit. It is not endorsed or connected to Warner Brothers or MGM. It was made as a purely technical exercise, and as a reflective deconstruction of elements in modern cinema.

The European Air Arms Race 1935 - 1939 part 1 of 2

This is by no means a complete history but does provide some perspective of the events in European military aviation from 1935 - 1939. When Nazi Germany openly started re-armament in 1935, few should have been surprised as Hitler had made it very clear both in his speeches and in "Mein Kampf" that he would break the "unjust" terms of the Treaty of Versailles. For two years, the German military expanded in secret. By March 1935, Hitler felt strong enough to go public on Nazi Germany's military expansion - which broke the terms of the Versailles Treaty. Europe learned that the Nazis had 2500 war planes in its Luftwaffe and an army of 300000 men in its Wehrmacht. Hitler felt confident enough to publicly announce that there would be compulsory military conscription in Nazi Germany and that the army would be increased to 550000 men. How did Europe react to this flagrant violation of Versailles? Essentially, the French and British did nothing. Britain was still recovering from the Depression which had devastated her economy. She could not afford a conflict. The French preferred a defensive policy against a potential German threat and she spent time and money building the vast Maginot Line - a series of vast forts on the French and German border. The most Britain, France and Italy did (at this time, Italy did not view German as a potential ally as the above was pre-Abyssinia) was to form the Stresa Front which issued a protest against Hitler's rearmament policy but did nothing ...

The autograph hound 1939

Autograph hound Donald, despite the security guard, manages to get signatures from Greta Garbo, 'Mickey Rooney' , Sonja Henie, The Ritz Brothers, and Shirley Temple before he's recognized and everyone wants his autograph. Donald Duck experiences autograph hunters like him aren't welcomed, as a policeman hunts him mercilessly -of course he always gets trough, eg riding on Geta Garbo's limousine, or away- and contemporary (1930s) stars either ignore him or take the Mikey out of him, such as playing magic tricks like Mickey Rooney who makes his autograph book disappear or figure skater Sonja Henie who skates her signature in the ice. Only Shirley Temple (then a teenager), whom he literally bumps into, isn't too proud and self-absorbed to realize she's in the presence of Donald Duck, one of the greatest and indeed most lasting Hollywood superstar; now all celebrities flock around him, waving their autograph books.
