You can find it here: www.youtube.com LYRICS: VERSE 1 Laptop on, and the screensaver stilled, New Word document just waiting to be filled. My fingers are poised and my first sentence rehearsed. It's 11:59, October thirty-first. A fresh pot of coffee and plenty of snacks, Defib machine against possible heart attacks. This last minute's going by way to slow . . . Oh, my God, it's midnight! Here I go! It's time to kick some literary ass! No time for chores, work, a social life, or class. I don't even have time to write this song well, Which is why this section sounds like Pachelbel. I've got just one thousand, six hundred sixty-seven words To write before the day is out. A fifty thousand word novel in just thirty days, And not a clue what it'll be about! VERSE 2 Week one, and I'm going strong! Hell, this is easy, I can do this all month long. I may even finish up by day ten, And then I can do it all over again! The words flow like a river on a rainy day, I'm well on my way towards that 50K. Momentum is going, there's no slowing down. . . . No, nothing can stop me now! I'm kicking some serious novel-writing ass! And it's true, I may be falling behind in class, Dirty dishes lay forgotten in a growing pile, And it's possible I haven't showered in a while, But I've got one thousand six hundred sixty-seven words To write, and more if time will allow. Antonio Lotti (1667-1740) Supplica ad amore

track no.14: Supplica ad amore from "La vita caduca" Il Complesso Barocco, Alan Curtis www.amazon.ca ____________________________________________________________ Antonio Lotti (ca. 1667 -- 5 January 1740) was an Italian composer of classical music. Lotti was born in Venice, although his father Matteo was Kapellmeister at Hanover at the time.[1] In 1682, Lotti began studying with Lodovico Fuga and Giovanni Legrenzi, both of whom were employed at St Mark's Basilica, Venice's principal church. Lotti made his career at St Mark's, first as an alto singer (from 1689), then as assistant to the second organist, then as second organist (from 1692), then (from 1704) as first organist, and finally (from 1736) as maestro di cappella, a position he held until his death. He also wrote music for, and taught at, the Ospedale degli Incurabili. In 1717 he was given leave to go to Dresden, where a number of his operas were produced, including Giove in Argo, Teofane and Li quattro elementi (all with librettos by Antonio Maria Luchini).[2] He returned to Venice in 1719 and remained there until his death in 1740. Lotti wrote in a variety of forms, producing masses, cantatas, madrigals, around thirty operas, and instrumental music. His sacred choral works are often unaccompanied (a cappella). His work is considered a bridge between the established Baroque and emerging Classical styles. Lotti is thought to have influenced Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Johann Dismas Zelenka ...

Michel Pignolet Montéclair (1667-1737) - Cantate "La mort de Didon"

Michel Pignolet Montéclair (1667-1737) - Cantate "La mort de Didon" The drama of Montéclair's Cantata "La mort de Didon" remains within the boundaries of chamber music while its theme derives from the opera. A narrator appears in the last recit to tell briefly of the Carthaginian queen's death and immolation; otherwise, the action is entirely in Dido's own thoughts and words as she learns of Aeneas's desertion. French music found it fullest expression in these brief forms of chamber music, produced between 1700 and 1750. In these first years, the French composers assimilated the Italian cantata style, developing a way of combining poetry, music and French drama. Michel Pignolet de Montéclair (1667-1737) - Excerpts from La Triomphe de la Constance Born in 1667, Michel Pignolet de Monteclair made his way to Paris in 1697, and by 1699 was playing the basse de violon in the Paris Opera and gaining renown as a teacher. Acknowledged as one of the most important composers of the post-Lully generation, his stage works influenced Jean Phillipe Rameau's orchestration and dramatic music. He gave a more prominent role to his obbligato instruments than any other composer of cantatas before his time, as evidenced by the use of totally independent bass lines. In fact, his music to La Triomphe de la Constance features extensive substantive solo passages for the bass viol. In this performance of music from La Triomphe de la Constance, we will hear Amy Conn, soprano, Craig Trompeter, viola da gamba, and Doug Schneider, harpsichord.ArsAntiguaPresents.com, directed by Jerry Fuller, is a series free video web cast programs of music from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical eras performed on period instruments.Video production by Phillip W. ORIGINAL 1667 MANHATTAN AFRICAN AMERICAN LAND TRANSFER DOCUMENT, Pt. 1/2

A 17th CENTURY BLACK LANDOWNER IN NEW YORK CITY'S GREENWICH VILLAGE! This unique 1667 document transfers 12 acres in present day Washington Square to the wife and children of a recently deceased free African American, Groote Manuel, who received the land in 1644 after 18 yrs. of toil as a slave. Manuel and 10 other Angolans arrived on Manhattan Island in 1626--the first Africans to set foot in what is now New York. Signed by Richard Nicolls, first English Governor, and the man who named the city and eventual state of New York. This PRICELESS document was the subject of a 2005 "History Detectives" episode. It is a cornerstone piece in the Mark E. Mitchell Collection of African American History.

RARE 1667 NYC AFRICAN AMERICAN LAND TRANSFER! (Part 2 of 2)

In Part 2 of this story from the PBS series "History Detectives," Sociologist Tukufu Zuberi continues his journey exploring the story that began when Mark E. Mitchell, a collector of rare African-American memorabilia, showed Zuberi a land deed from the 1600s. This rare deed documented the first land to be granted to former slaves, transferring ownership to property in New Amsterdam -- which was later to become New York City. Having established the authenticity of this dlocument and learning more about Groote Manuell -- the former slave who was granted this land by Dutch settlers -- in this part of the story, Professor Zuberi discovers that Manuell is at the heart of a mystery, and he begins to determine the outcome of that controversy. Through conversations with historians and other experts, Zuberi learns about the descendants of Groote Manuell and what ultimately happened to this land in what is now Manhattan. Finally, he returns to see collector Mark Mitchell and tell him all that he has learned as a result of the clues offered by Mitchell's land deed. The document that inspired this story and brought this fascinating chapter of history alive is just one of thousands of fascinating items in Mark Mitchell's remarkable collection -- a collection of rare newspapers, letters and documents. The Mitchell collection includes hand-written letters by some of the most important figures in the annals of African-American history including Frederick Douglass, Benjamin Banneker ...

RARE 1667 NYC AFRICAN AMERICAN LAND TRANSFER! (Part 1 of 2)

In Part 1 of this story from the PBS series "History Detectives," a remarkable document in Mark E. Mitchell's vast collection of African-American documents and memorabilia tells the story of the first land in the Americas to be owned by freed slaves from Africa, 200 years before the Civil War. In this story, Sociologist Tukufu Zuberi meets with Mark Mitchell to review this land deed from the 1600s, and then after establishing its authenticity, he visits a number of experts and research archives to see what more he can learn based on clues offered in the document. Professor Zuberi learns that the deed grants land to Groote Manuell, a former slave brought to New Amsterdam (which many years later would become New York City) by Dutch settlers. Zuberi also learns that Groote Manuell was at the heart of a mystery, and he begins to investigate this aspect to the story. In Part 2 of this story, we learn why the Dutch settlers granted Groote Manuell and a number of other slaves their freedom as well as land in the colony that would one day become New York City. The document that inspired this story and brought this fascinating chapter of history alive is just one of thousands of fascinating items in Mark Mitchell's remarkable collection -- a collection of rare newspapers, letters and documents.

Richard Holdsworth on the Dutch Raid on the Medway

In June 1667 the Dutch navy executed the most daring raid in its maritime history. Legendary admiral Michiel de Ruyter led his fleet up the Medway and destroyed the English fleet. It took the flagship HMS Royal Charles as trophy back to the Republic. Its stern piece is still to be admired in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, but will be temporarily on loan to the National Maritime Museum. It's for the first time in 350 years the richly decorated stern piece is back on English soil. Richard Holdsworth form the Historic Dockyards in Chatham describes what happened in 1667.
