Hmm yeah, welcome to the world of arpeggiators, this is one of those albums i have no words for to discribe, and it took me years to find out how to create that monumental arpeggiosound in the first song. The whole album is referring to that everything is rotating in the universe, atoms, solar systems and even time and this is the soundtrack to it. Enjoy!

Vangelis - Conquest of Paradise

I heard this song when I was a kid and I knew I wanted to learn to play it on the piano. I guess this is one of the songs I played most and every time I play it different. This particular version was recorded late @ night, I think it's the best time to make music. It resulted however in a quite 'noisy' video, sorry for that. I hope you like this version :-) www.facebook.com

Vangelis 12 o clock (acherontas river)

In ancient Greek mythology, Acheron was known as the river of pain, and was one of the five rivers of the Greek underworld. In the Homeric poems the Acheron was described as a river of Hades, into which Cocytus and Phlegethon both flowed.[1][2] The Roman poet Virgil called it the principal river of Tartarus, from which the Styx and Cocytus both sprang.[3] The newly-dead would be ferried across the Acheron by Charon in order to enter the Underworld.[4] The Suda describes the river as "a place of healing, not a place of punishment, cleansing and purging the sins of humans."[5] According to later traditions, Acheron had been a son of Helios and either Gaia or Demeter, who had been turned into the Underworld river bearing his name after he refreshed the Titans with drink during their contest with Zeus. By this myth, Acheron is also the father of Ascalaphus by either Orphne[6] or Gorgyra.[7] The river called Acheron with the nearby ruins of the Necromanteion is found near Parga on the mainland opposite Corfu. Another branch of Acheron was believed to surface at the Acherusian cape (now Eregli in Turkey) and was seen by the Argonauts according to Apollonius of Rhodes. Greeks who settled in Italy identified the Acherusian lake into which Acheron flowed with Lake Avernus. Plato in his Phaedo identified Acheron as the second greatest river in the world, excelled only by Oceanus. He claimed that Acheron flowed in the opposite direction from Oceanus beneath the earth under desert ...

Vangelis - Missing (Opening Theme)

This is the theme music from the 1982 film, "Missing", directed by Konstantinos Gavras (AKA Constantin Costa-Gavras.) The film is based on a scandal that took place in Chile in 1973. Specifically, it is based on the disappearance of journalist Charles Horman. (Just for the record, the country is never referred to by name in the film, but its capital city, Santiago, is mentioned.) Horman had attempted to expose a conspiracy between the American and Chilean governments to overthrow Chilean president Salvador Allende. Unfortunately, he was later kidnapped by forces loyal to the conspirators, triggering a manhunt. It was later discovered that Horman had been executed when his body was discovered in a morgue. Jack Lemmon stars as Horman's father, Ed, and Sissy Spacek as Horman's wife, Beth. One of Costa-Gavras's most effective techniques in the film is the manner in which it is established to be based on a true story in the opening scene, although the ending scene states that the American government denies the existence of the events. Much like Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11", the film caused controversy for its portrayal of American interference in other countries' affairs, and was at one point banned in Chile because of its depiction of the Pinochet regime. (Speaking of Michael Moore, the overthrow of Allende and his replacement with Pinochet was mentioned in the "What a Wonderful World" montage in "Bowling for Columbine.") Nevertheless, Costa-Gavras was awarded the Palme ...

Beaubourg - Vangelis (1978, Windham Hill)

1."Beaubourg, Part I" -- 18:09 2."Beaubourg, Part II" -- 21:05 Beaubourg is a 1978 album by the Greek artist Vangelis. It is entirely synthesizer-based and highly experimental; together with Hypothesis (recorded in 1971 and unofficially released in 1978) it is often considered to be one of Vangelis' least accessible works. Invisible Connections (1985) is also often included in this category; however, as it was intended to be a work based on experimentalist classical music (released on the Deutsche Grammophon label) this view should be amended. Beaubourg contains experimental, atonal improvisations. The album is meant to reflect life in the Beaubourg district of Paris, when Vangelis lived there in the early '70s. Beaubourg is a musical representation of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The music on this album was primarily improvised on one or more Yamaha CS-80, the ring modulator of which he uses extensively. The sleeve design of the album is by Vangelis himself. The recording engineer was Keith Spencer-Allen, who was assisted by Marlis Duncklau. en.wikipedia.org

Tamburasi - Vangelis - 1492 Conquest of Paradise (Live)

Live performance by City Tamburitza Orchestra Branko Radicevic - Ruma, Serbia (31.01.2010.) "Conquest of Paradise" is a 1992 song recorded by Vangelis. It was the soundtrack from Ridley Scott's 1992 film 1492: Conquest of Paradise and the lead single from the album of the same name. The song achieved huge success in many countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland where it topped the singles chart, but was a relative failure in UK where it only peaked at #33. The song is currently the 50th best-selling single of all time in Germany, where the song's popularity had been boosted by boxer Henry Maske using it as his theme song. "Conquest of Paradise" is played at home games for the Super 14 team Crusaders (rugby) and Super League team Wigan Warriors. The song has been covered by many artists, including Blake, Klaus Schulze, Free the Spirit, the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra Project, John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra (1996), Daylight (1997), Dana Winner (2002), The Ten Tenors (2004) and Rhydian (2009). This single "Conquest of Paradise" song is currently being played at 2010 ICC World Twenty20, the most prestigious cricket tournament, just before national anthems of two contesting national teams are played at the starting of every match. The single "Conquest of Paradise" has also been inserted in the 2007 Chinese TV drama series Soldiers Sortie. Its chord progression is based on the old European theme La Follia.

Vangelis - Cosmos (Theme from TV Series)

Cosmos is a collection of space music from the early Vangelis CDs of the '70s. It is pure and graceful space music with no frills. Vangelis has an aggressive style on the synth and these compositions are pure Berlin school electronica. The atmospheres are cosmic and dynamic. The soundscapes surge with triumphant synth washes.

Vangelis - Message

This is a track from Vangelis's 1988 album, "Direct" - and one of my personal favorites from the artist. The video consists of several images of extrasolar planets. Most of them are taken from Wikimedia Commons, except for the image of COROT-7b, which I found on Google. At least two of the extrasolar planets in the images are fictional. Oh yeah, just for the record, the planet that appears at 5:31 is supposed to be Z'Ha'Dum, from "Babylon 5." (That is, Z'Ha'Dum prior to its destruction as a result of that supernova.)

Invisible Connections - Vangelis (1985, Deutsche Grammophon)

1."Invisible Connections" -- 18:30 2."Atom Blaster" -- 7:50 3."Thermo Vision" -- 13:19 "One of his most obscure albums, Invisible Connections is quite different from the majority of Vangelis's work. It has been compared to minimalist experimental music. Despite this, it can very loosely be said to belong to a trilogy of his '80s albums, the other two being Soil Festivities from 1984, and Mask from the same year as Invisible Connections. These all feature a willingness of the artist, at this time, to experiment with not only music itself, but his own album release-patterns, as the content differs so markedly from the style he was known for, up to this point. In fact, it may be that he was deliberately, and consciously, returning to a style he began in 1978, when he released Beaubourg, an album which is as experimental as Invisible Connections. Though Hypothesis, released in 1978, but recorded in 1971 is also considered to be another "experimental" album, it was a release which Vangelis did not sanction, and, besides, it was musically geared towards jazz fusion rather than the minimalist style of the albums, above. Track 1 : The first movement, up to 08:35, is a collection of ominious, echo-laden, heavily-treated acoustic sounds; piano, cymbals, and percussion. Highly free-form, in the sense that there is no rhythm or structure (as such), it has an extremely unsettling aura even though it could be classified as being essentially ambient in nature. The second movement ...

VANGELIS - Freedom March (Voices)

Originally I couldnt find information on this Vangelis track which I've found out to be "Voices" from the album voices. However, whenever I listened to it without a title it reminded me of some kind of royal march or something very regal. An extrordinary piece of music, I decided to pair it with images taken from ancient temple ruins in Greece. Enjoy!
