In 1981, Van den Berg worked with vocalist Jos Veldhuizen, bassist Griff "Studly" McGrath, and drummer Bico De Gooijer in a band called Teaser. This line-up didn't last long, and Van den Berg then hired Bert Heerink (vocals), Dick Kemper (bass), and Jos Zoomer (drums). With this line-up, Teaser recorded a demo that landed onto the desk of pop-journalist Kees Baars. Baars offered to manage the group, and contracted the band at Atlantic Records in the US Their self-titled debut album was recorded at the former Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page's studio, Sol Studios, and in 1983 their first single "Burning Heart" reached #39 in the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. Vandenberg toured the US as opening act for Ozzy Osbourne and KISS, and toured independently in Japan in 1984. "Different Worlds" from the second album Heading For A Storm also did fairly well, but did not equal the success of "Burning Heart".

The US Air Force's first unmanned re-entry spacecraft landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base at 1:16 am PST today, Dec. 3. The X-37B, named Orbital Test Vehicle 1 (OTV-1), conducted on-orbit experiments for more than 220 days during its maiden voyage. It fired its orbital maneuver engine in low-earth orbit to perform an autonomous reentry before landing. The X-37B is the newest and most advanced re-entry spacecraft. Managed by the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (AFRCO), the X-37B program performs risk reduction, experimentation and concept of operations development for reusable space vehicle technologies. "Today's landing culminates a successful mission based on close teamwork between the 30th Space Wing, Boeing and the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office," said Lt Col Troy Giese, X-37B program manager from the AFRCO. "We are very pleased that the program completed all the on-orbit objectives for the first mission." OTV-1's de-orbit and landing mark the transition from the on-orbit demonstration phase to a refurbishment phase for the program. The Air Force is preparing to launch the next X-37B, OTV-2, in Spring 2011 aboard an Atlas V booster.

Adrian Vandenberg's solo unit, before he would move on to Whitesnake. A very AOR-like approach, as the music is a mix between lighter 'Snake and Firehouse, and heavier '70s-influenced bands such as Styx and Journey. The vocals are boasting and radio-esque, and often remind of Lou Graham of Foreigner. Adrian does occasionally go off on this compilation disc, but ironically it's usually acoustic burning we're treated to---the electric musings are often left to straight bar-chord fare and the occasional strong riff. The highlights are the light Scorpions feel of "Pedal to the Metal," as well as the driving "Fighting Against the World". Other moments stand out as well, including the thump riff of "Wait," the thick and harmonious chorus of "Burning Heart," and the strong attitudes of "Rock On" and "Welcome to the Club."

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency says contact with its experimental hypersonic glider was lost after launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base on the central California coast. The agency says in Twitter postings that its unmanned Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle-2 was launched Thursday atop a rocket, successfully separated from the booster and entered the mission's glide phase. The agency says telemetry was subsequently lost, but released no details. A similar vehicle was launched last year and returned nine minutes of data before contact was prematurely lost. The small aircraft is supposed to maneuver through the atmosphere at 13000 mph (21000 kph) before intentionally diving into the ocean. Vandenberg was retired in 1983, and struck from the Naval Vessel Register in 1993, she was to be sunk as an artificial reef originally intended for the spring of 2008, but instead was placed under Federal Lien to be auctioned off for payment recovery in December 2008 at Norfolk Federal Court. A group of banks and financiers from Key West bought the vessel off the auction block and it was docked at the East Quay Pier of Key West Harbor. The ship was sunk May 27, 2009. It is the second-largest artificial reef in the world.

The USNS Vandenberg was sunk 6 miles off the coast of Key West to create a natural reef on 27 May, 2009. This underwater footage was taken approximately 3 hrs after she arrived on the ocean floor. Mel Fisher's Treasures assisted in the project and provided vessels used as the dive platforms for saftey and tech divers.
