Kajagoogoo - Too Shy - bass lesson
By popular demand I present this incredible bass line from the truly talented Nick Beggs of Kajagoogoo. Playing my G&L L2000 (BABE Edition) in single coil mode, both pickups active, with everything all the way up. I am playing it "my way." Please don't bother with "that's not exactly right" comments. That's getting quite old. Enjoy! UPDATE: I may re-do this video but for the meantime know that the 5th and 6th notes in the chorus are F and G not G and A as I played it. So, the first part of the chorus goes - low D high DGAFG high G high G Also, there is a tab out there written by Beggs himself. After studying it I realized that what I am playing is more of a hybrid between the bass and the "synth bass" lines. At times they are doing quite different things and it can be hard to pick out the notes.

Pure class TOP quality video recorded live in the studio of Top Of The Pops 1983. Kajagoogoo is a British pop band, best known for their hit single, "Too Shy", which reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart and No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1983. The band was originally founded in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, in 1979, as a four-piece avant-garde instrumental group, called Art Nouveau, with Nick Beggs on bass guitar, Steve Askew on lead guitar, Stuart Croxford Neale on keyboards, and Jeremy "Jez" Strode on drums. Art Nouveau released a track called "The Fear Machine". The single sold a few hundred copies, and was played on the John Peel show, but the band were unable to get a record deal. In 1981, they advertised for a lead singer, ultimately auditioning and choosing Christopher Hamill, who then went under the stage name Limahl (an anagram of his surname). The name of the group was then changed to Kajagoogoo, coined by phonetically writing out a baby's first sounds, which gave them 'GagaGooGoo' - and with a minor alteration, it became 'Kajagoogoo' The band attracted the interest of three record labels (and Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes), while performing at the Embassy Club, in London. The group was eventually signed to EMI, in July 1982, and Rhodes was hired to produce their first album, White Feathers along with Duran Duran's EMI producer Colin Thurston. "The Power To Forgive" is taken from Kaja's album "Extra Play" in the USA & "Islands" for the rest of the world. Kaja vocalist / bassist,Nick Beggs is a Born Again Christian & has said that the Bible was his inspiration for the "Extra Play / Islands" album. There is a Christian theme running thru all the songs from start to finish on "Extra Play / Islands". "The Power To Forgive" is a song about God's / Jesus forgiveness & love for us & for us to have forgiveness for eachother. The Word Of God says this....MATTHEW 6:14 -15 "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
